    Unhappy P0302 Misfiring! Help!!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
okay so about a month ago when I started my 2010 Audi A4 2.0T, it starting misfiring. At idle, RPM was about 850 and the CEL came on and after a few seconds being at idle, the EPC light came on and the shaking got worse. I connected the OBD II and it gave me fault code P0302. so I automatically suggested it was the spark plug or coil pack. Had all 4 cylinder spark and coil packs replaced, cleared the codes, turned the car on, car started to misfire again, CEL and EPC came on. When driving, sometimes it stutters when I pick up speed, but after that its running good. its only at idle that it starts to misfire and CEL, EPC come on.

My car is around 98700k miles right about now.

There is this kind of whistle coming from under the hood at idle. Strong suction when taking the oil cap off. I have read that the whistle might be a vacuum leak or the PCV.

Any ideas on whats wrong with my audi or anyone else had the same problem?

if you only have code P0302 (cylinder #2 misfire detected); http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...6/P0302/000770 and replaced the plugs and coils i would say you have low compression (bad rings), however it also sounds like you have a bad PCV valve (usually you get a system to rich/lean code for this). Replace that first and see what happens: http://www.europaparts.com/catalogse...?q=06H103495AC

I recently read that you can spray brake cleaner around suspected leaks. If the engine idle changes, then you have found the location.

Another potential problem is a sticking injector.

Also, please only create a new thread when necessary. You already have a thread about this problem (http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php/666738).

Is it just me or why does brake cleaner generally sound like a bad idea?

Good question. I assumed that in small quantities the non-chlorinated cleaners would be okay.

Here's an example of the ingredients:

    Acetone 45-55%
    Toluene 25-35%
    Methanol 10-20%
    Carbon Dioxide 5-10%

I just did some more reading, and supposedly brake cleaner is bad for rubber and plastics, so perhaps stay away. I also read someone using propane from a propane torch... http://www.ehow.com/how_12170503_vac...k-propane.html
