Did your Q5 come with the iPod AMI cable

Bought my sq5 with less then 5k miles, and it didn't have the cord, dealer shipped one to me, brand new in packaging.... Anyone use it? How? Or did you get another one like usb, or lighting connection?


I wonder if I can take it back to Audi and exchange it for one that fits my iPhone.

I believe the AMI > 30-pin cable is still the standard. Certainly that's what mine has. I did buy the Lightning and USB cables, but I have to be honest...they've never seen use. I use bluetooth audio for my phone, which never makes its way to the glove box.

30 pin is still standaed. I have a 30-lightning dongle which I use to charge 6+ in my glove sometimes.

I use the adapter only sometimes, I do prefer the interface with it plugged in, more access through the cluster/ steering wheel controls.

It sure will... rather quickly too.

I was given a Apple ipod adapter for Audi music interface but turned out it didn't work with ipod shuffle, works nly for original ipod
I just use SD card and dump all files to HDD

My car came with the old 30-pin interface cable, and I couldn't convince my dealer to let me swap for the lightning cable. I ended up buying the lightning cable off eBay which also came with a USB AMI cable.

I played around with a bunch of different options (iPod, iPhone 4, iPhone 6), but using the USB AMI cable with a 750GB WD Passport USB drive has been the best option for me. I don't have to deal with my phone being in a glovebox where I can't use it for anything else, and enabling VIM and downloading some episodes of Bubble Guppies has made my 15 month old a happy camper from her center seat.

Yes it came with one, but I put my entire music collection on a 128GB SD card (fat32) and use that instead.

When I picked up my sq5 the dealership asked what phone I had and gave me the appropriate AMI to lightning cable.

Only ever used when I need to charge my phone.
