Looking for average 0-60 times for a APR stage 2+ vs APR K04

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi, Cant' seem to find this info eventhough I searched here and on Google. I'm stage 2+ on a 2005.5 B7 Avant Tip. Looking at going to the APR K04 (because of tranny). Just trying to see what the performance difference is. I know that I'm at about 260hp/310 tq now, and would go to 318hp/338tq. But what does that mean in say a 0-60 time?

    Thanks

Its going to be a bigger bump than just numbers. KO4 can hold peak boost longer into the rev range and doesn't fall on its face like the ko3. The Ko4 has a more usable torque curve, I don't know what the 0-60s are, not going to be stellar either way though I am sure. Trying to judge off just this video

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0O3MmEnP8o0

It looks to be somewhere over 5 seconds, maybe high 5s? Decently respectable but either way a new camry will still give it a run for its money

Im waiting to do a rebuild and got gtx2867r, ko4 just doesn't seem worth it to me.

    You mean a camry v6?

The 4 cyclinder will be behind.

    They run mid 14s easy.

Those cars are near 400lbs lighter than a b7 tiptronic

Camry is the destroyer of all apparently!

Toyota Camry V-6 --- Subaru Impreza WRX
    0–60: 5.8 seconds --- 0–60: 5.8 seconds
    1/4: 14.3 @ 93 mph --- 1/4: 14.4 @ 95 mph

Back to OP, I would look for mid 5 to high 5 seconds. It just that the cars are now going on a decade old so cars have come a long way is all I am saying. Mid 5 is what my old 99 cobra ran stock, so still very respectable for a turbo 4 sedan that gets over 30mpg.

Looking at one of my old launch videos, it looks like I am around the mid 5s, manual just makes it much easier to pull good 0-60times due to the obvious advantage of launching. Maybe a manual ko4 would be low 5 high 4

Well, my K0R is really just a modified K04 and I personally ran the quarter mile in just under 14 seconds at 102 mph if you want to compare those times.

thanks guys. I've had my car since new and have put a lot of money and time into my mods. I only have 68k on it and hope to keep it another 5-10 years. So I like modding and keeping the car fresh. I think I'll still go for it.

If you're going k04 I would look into getting the loba motorsport LO400 imported from Europe.

And it may be possible for GIAC to get the loba. They were selling it at one point for vw 2.0t.

    We should post our 0-60.

I have OBDII reader with Torque App. I'll test it soon on my b7 stage 2 unitronic. Buttdyno feels like 6.mid sec.

    Maxima V6 5sped 3.0L n/a , I made 6.3sec. And it feel way faster than the b7. (lighter, v6, traction over heavy/4cyl/quattro)

Shouldn't even a Stage 1 only tuned B7 2.0t with K03 attain a 0-60 in the mid 6 range? I mean even the stock 2.0t is quoted by Audi at 7.2 seconds, no?

This sounds about accurate. Unless you meth inject or e85 tune the k04 it doesn't seem to be a big increase.

That's why I don't get why a stage 2 would still only get mid sixes from 0-60.

because its a tip, I really think that hurts the 0-60. My stage 2+ manual is in the mid to high 5s, but looking at videos and trying to judge off of that, the tip is really hurt from the start.

    What parts not to get?
    Stock - 7's
    Stage 1 and 2 - 6's
    K04 - 5's
    Stage 3 - hopefully 4's
    Right?

Cost of a k04 with all things considered is hardly worth it over any of the BT kits out there. I pieced together the cheapest genuine k04 S3 turbo kits I could and after everything (assuming a stage 2+ car) as still like 3000. JHM BT kit is like 3900 installed

Yeah, this is why I've been building towards the efr 6758 most likely. If I'm spending thousands it might as well be towards something bigger.

even tip in manual mode? I dunno, I drive it always in tip mode when not in traffic and it seems to get up and go pretty good for me. But then again, everything is relative. Yeah the APR k04 is not cheap, that's why I wanted to get a feel for what people think. If I had a manual, I of course would probably consider something bigger, but alas, I don't. I love the car and hope to keep a long time. Especially since Audi refuses to bring anymore avants over here. I guess if my car was totaled, I would look at the Allroad and mod it up, but I like the size of the b7 avant. B8 just seems too big and not a fan of the instrument cluster layout. I would have to get a B9 if I had to.

I have the Ross tech cable. Is there a way to measure 0-60 on it?

If i had a spare 4000 id do it.

But since the 6hp19a is slow, I don't think it will cope well with it.

What do you tip owners think?

IMO I think people under estimate what a 6hp19a can handle. I the out of my set up on a DD bassis. The 6hp19a has not let me down. Same transmission as in the B7S4 with a few valve body spring differences. Dont get it twisted I dont abuse the care There is a difference between spirited and ing a car

What im saying is that the 6hp19a is not a fast shifter compared to the likes of the 8hp

Having driven the B8.5, those are much quieter and snappier with their new tranny. I'm jealous.

Might just keep the B7 as a beater. It's in prestine condition for a 2008.

I've been given a B8.5 as a loaner, and I wasn't impressed all that much from the tranny. It's nice that there's no longer any vibration at idle, but the real champ of a tranny is the new A3's double clutch S-tronic tranny. Now that tranny is a friggen champ, and makes the car feel way faster than the B7 and B8.

Are you happy with the tune?

How does it hold boost? Does it keep pulling all the way to redline?

Yeah it's awesome. They're making a tune for a built block now for me, can't wait until it's ready.

Ask @mec and Arjun what they think so you don't get a biased opinion

Best ots k04 tune hands down. If you rode in it you would be asking if the car had a gt30, the thing moves for being such a small turbo
