Cooling Fans Really really loud

I did some googling not much on my topic. Recently I have noticed my fans are extremely loud. A lot louder then they have ever been. When I stop I can hear them from inside my car, I noticed this about 3 days ago. When I turn the car off they turn off right away and it sounds like a jet engine turning off? Any ideas?

Keep an eye on coolant temps and don't take the car on any long trips. If it is repeatable, take it in for service for at least the diagnosis.

I think the 2010s had bad water pumps and all B8 have the t-stat issue, so could be either.

Interesting, but I think that might just be a random occurrence. I do not think they would have anything to do with one another? I may be wrong.

It shouldn't be related as the part of the crank pulley that bolts firmly to the crank snout is the accessory drive and SC drive fits inside of that with the rubber isolator. So if the failing rubber bothered anything it should be the SC but even then it's doubtful.

When the pulley comes apart it probably takes all or most of both belts with it I would imagine.

I just got the car back yesterday with a new pulley installed and it's quiet again. The SC and serpentine belts were replaced as the serpentine was destroyed. The SC belt had about 20k miles on it but it didn't make sense not to replace it while the work was being done. It didn't break but it did skip a couple of teeth. I suppose the noise could have been from the serpentine belt but I don't know that it was failing. I believe it only failed because the crank pulley failed. This is only my hypothesis and my observations over the last month or so. I had my tstat fail twice, once at 15k miles and the other at 51k miles.

Oh wow, how much did that bill run you?

When I first start my car its not loud at all, it is normal. But when I get to work 4 miles away its really loud when I pull in the driveway.

About $400 for the pulley (I used JHM but stock is around the same), $50 for each belt, $20 for coolant and $200 for labor. Fortunately my pulley broke at idle so my radiator wasn't damaged.

My front end was loud at all times. It didn't get louder as the car warmed up.

I actually noticed it start to over heat as I pulled into my driveway. So I was not stranded, my friend with AAA helped me get it to Audi, they gave me a loaner car even though I didn't buy it from them and never serviced it there.

That's pretty good that you got 100k out of yours. Lucky you weren't on the road like me 30 miles from my house. Have to love AAA for times like these.

Did you take it to dealer? If you are out of warranty have them do the themostat and go to Eurotech for Motor mounts.

yeah it is at dealer, that is exactly what I planned on doing, but bringing it to KMD to do mounts. Ill check pricing with Eurotech too.

960 at shop with 034 mounts. 1,300 from dealer with stock mounts.

easy choice there. I would go 034, dealer mounts can go as little as 17k miles
