ZF 8 Speed Transmission Service? Random Issues...

Anyone servicing these per ZF's recommended 40-50K intervals? I just crested 75K in my Avant and am debating doing the recommended service through a local indy shop. Ill also go ahead and face palm that Audi says repeatedly that there is such thing as a 'lifetime' fluid...not sure if they simply don't want to have the liability for transmission service's or whats going on there.

Root cause/reasoning is I'm getting intermittent hard shifts (normally up only, and lower gears), and a real hanging shift issue after 1/2-full throttle accelerations. Almost have to go back to part throttle or go into tip to get it to upshift once it hangs. The hanging shift issue has me more worried than anything, as I'm sure a bit of the hard shift issues are correlated to all of my mounts needing replacement.

Thanks for any heads up, or any input guys.

I think for Audi, the "Lifetime" of the transmission is until the warranty expires.

Definitely recommend changing fluid and filter, and having dealer do it..dealer may have specific computer software to check levels through vagcom that independents may not. It's what I plan to do at 50k, ever since I read the zf article ,they definitely encourage regular fluid changes and feel their transmissions are built to out live the car itself...... Since my old b6 the new 8 speed does require more fluid hence the increased cost... I'm thinking close to 700 in fluid and filter alone... Ecs tuning definitely sells complete fluid and parts for much less then dealer..

Pure recommendation and even from audi every 60000km, oilchange, better if dynamic as all old oil is getting out with this process, "lifetime oil" - just a joke:)
Plus new soft and adaption, price is probably high but cheeper then repair 10 times.

You can try adaption first with cable to see if something getting better if not oilchange asap.

In my small country dynamic oilchange with new soft and adaption with geniuine oil is around 350 euro. Im talking about 8speed multitronic there is no filter which can be changed as for this you need to open all gearbox(info from our specialists).
