    MMI hidden menu help

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So, hidden menu works. I've turned on front and rear footwell lighting. And I have followed the procedure (twice) for enabling the option to control them in the MMI. My option is still grey though. Any thoughts on what I missed?

I don't have an answer but was trying to get into the green screen the other day and it wouldn't work. What button combination were you pressing?

Does this menu allow you to change the brightness of your LED DRLs? Is it safe to change things?

I was able to disable the wink of the LED DRLs but I don't recall seeing a brightness control with this app. You can safely bump up the brightness a little on them. Keep in mind not to go too bright as they could become too distracting to oncoming traffic.

It allows you to unlock features of the MMI that have been hidden; such as the footwell lighting. Some features require changes to be made via VAGCOM first. In my case, I purchased a Carista OBD adapter and their app for my iPhone. It is not as complete as the software from Ross Tech but it's got what I wanted.

Thanks, that's what I thought and had tried to do. Tried again today...while car running and just in accessory mode; did not work. What year is your car? Mine is 2015 MMI with Nav, B&O and whatever else comes with the technology package.

Mine is a 2013. If it's not letting you in the hidden menu then it's not enabled yet. And for that you need either the VAGCOM cable/software or this Carista app and OBD adapter that I'm using.

I contacted the Carista developers and I got in on their beta version right now. It worked and allowed me to adjust my footwell lighting finally!! woo! It's really the little things that excite me these days.

In the hidden menu on a facelift you also need to set 'Interior light' on ‘CAN Komfort’ in 'car/carbusassigment'

Hey wildtouch83, thanks for the info on Carista. Looks interesting as an option vs Ross-Tech, which is super expensive and looks too complicated for me. One question: Do you know whether you can adjust DRL brightness using Carista?

just got around to checking...no option yet for the brightness of LED DRL with Carista.

I'm working on exporting all of my settings and then will post here so you can see what's available.

We had the same issue on my car this weekend when we were enabling the ambient lighting feature. My interior lighting option was greyed out, but the user from here helping me with it was able to figure out what step we had missed. Facelifted vehicles require an extra step that pre-facelift ones did not.

I don't want to necessarily volunteer the guy that helped me do it, so I'll PM him and direct him to this thread to see if he can help you.

    Glad t hear it.

Are you running the stock lights for your footwells, by chance? I still have my stocks in, but I'm considering looking around for a red LED to match the rest of the interior night lighting. The white is honestly a little more distracting than I thought it would be.

I'm just using stock LEDs. I have tried just about every level of brightness and settled on just over half way for an acceptable level of light.

I have a 2014 and enabled this via Carista to get to unlock the MMI menu, and to also enable the ambient lighting both front/rear via Carista. My understanding is that you have to both enable it via VAGCOM or Carista, then you have the enable to screen option in the MMI. I went to the hidden MMI menu to activate the Interior Light (set it to both 1 and then 5 to see if it made a difference) under \main\car\devicelist, turned on CAN Komfort from 9/9 to 1/9 and also 5/9 under \main\car\carmenuoperatopm to see if it made a difference. All I end up with is a grayed out interior light screen option and the ambient lighting not working.

Is there a specific step-by-step in order of activation that must be followed?

Hey guys, I figured it out with the Carista App, you need to enroll to become a BETA tester if your on an Android platform on their website, or email them if your on iOS. Then after a couple hours, your app will send you a request for an update. You download the update and its the BETA version and then you can activate the ambient lighting via the App. Then you do the usual MMI hidden menu stuff.

**Cliffnotes** The regular Carista App doesn't provide this function at this time as its in testing phase (at least for the B8.5). Contact them to become a BETA tester.

There are a couple of threads going on now that you guys should look for. One in the A4 and one in the S4 section. Both are supported by Todor who works for Carista. All questions answered pretty much all of the time. You would have known about beta testing long ago.
