    Hi Guys,

Sorry for the old topic – Extended Warranty for our cars.
The factory warranty on my car is about to expire next month. I have 47.5K on the car.
I’m thinking to purchase extended warranty through my Audi dealer here in Central NJ.
I just got off the phone with one of representative who said that they are not offering Fidelity extended warranty anymore. Instead Audi dealers are offering AllState warranty plans. I think it’s even better – AllState is a bigger company and is not likely to go out of business.
The best option is Premium 48m/48ml coverage and price is $5500 with $100 deductible. If car serviced at the original dealer who sold the coverage, the deductible is voided. They have a payment plan for 12 month.
However I’m not a big fan of extended warranty in general especially my car is moded which may void warranty all together.
Long story short. I would like to read your opinion regarding this. Should I purchase this or any other warranty or just keep $5500 and if needed spend it for any future repairs?

    Thanks in advance!

$5500 is an enormous amount of money. You are going to have to count on several large failures to even make that cost effective. Last time I bought extended warranties I did it up front at finance, on the '12 Jetta TDI and GTI (I'm leasing now so no need). IIRC they were around $2000, and were 75/75 plans with $100 ded. At that point it's just good sense, a few small issues at a dealer and $2000 is eaten up quick.

But $5500........perhaps the deal is way better at finance inception, or maybe Audi is just way more expensive on coverage. But personally I would take that money and just put it aside, if things go wrong you can dip into it, if not you have it to spend. And if something catastrophic does take the car out.....well, $5500 and whatever you can get from parting out/selling the dead carcass makes a great down payment. LOL

No way for that price. With Fidelity I paid $3000 and I thought that was nuts and thats the top of the line protection that covers everything. Shop around or something. If I could do it again, I would even consider just putting the $3k away and saving it for when I need a repair. I bought it mostly for the transmission but with other things like wheel bearings going out it is good peace of mind. I have another year and a half left on my coverage so maybe I will start using it.

I bought my extended warranty at the time of purchase for $2850 or so. I've had a tstate replaced, an air conditioner sensor replaced and the AC evacuated and refilled. I definitely lost money on mine. If you don't have the money don't finance it. That makes no sense.

The aftermarket service contract is more determined by your dealer group than Audi. In fact Audi actually has a partnership with Fidelity warranty services (JM&A) for extensions on CPO coverage's out to $120k.

Also, JM&A is wholly owned by Toyota motor company and is the largest and longest running warranty company in the US. Allstate is ofcourse a large company as well so I am sure you wont have a problem with either.

If you are interested in some aftermarket coverages and your local dealer cannot provide them please reach out!

Way too much money. Reach out to Troy for a Fidelity warranty. FD-Warranty.com.

Although if modded may be best to just hang onto cash because any warranty company will likely investigate a major claim.

Doesn't the extended warranty also cover electronics? If your MMI fails that's quite an expensive thing to replace.

For that price put the money in a savings account and keep it for any repairs. I doubt you will use it.

These cars are so reliable (even more-so with the 6MT) that a warranty is not likely to be worth it. Especially at the absolutely ridiculous $5.5k price. At $1k, $1.5k it might be worth consideration.

During last 78k miles, my S4 needed about $1500-$2000 on just repair cost and it would have been significantly cheaper if the tech diagnosed it the first time. $5500 for 48mos/48k mi is too much. I think you can gain more by investing that money. I'm not a pro in making money with money but CVS, Walgreens, and NFLX stocks have been good, very goooooood .

Thanks a lot Guys for your replies!!! You just confirm my thoughts. I'll do as most of the posts suggested - no extended warranty that is.
