Memory seat "set" button

I had my car for a few months now and I think I have a problem with the memory seats. I read that the light on the "set" button on the door is supposed to turn on after you press it and then you hold it and choose either memory 1 or 2. Mine never turn on what ever I do nothing happens when I press just the memory buttons to recall setting. My mirrors seems to recall a certain position tough when I unlock the car with the remote. The Off button do turn on/off when I press it tough. I ran a detailed scan with Carista and I don't see any error codes other than one on the driver seat motor, could it be this code that cause the whole memory seat not to work ?

Make sure that the "Remote Key" is set to on in your Seat option under Car Settings in MMI. Also make sure the OFF button light is not lit when you try to press the set button.

Yup I verified those 2 things, the set button still doesn't light up when pressed or hold. :/

I don't think it lights up when you are holding it to adjust.

Essentially when the set light is off it's just hold to move into position - no light and movement is the only way to verify it's working.

EDIT: I'm not near my car, but as noted I think the only light is 'OFF' (which is actually odd now that I think it through)

did you set it correctly? as in hold Set + 1 or 2 to save your position?

To set mine I adjust everything to where I want it, press set (not hold) then press 1 or 2. To recall a setting I press 1 or 2 and hold until everything stops moving.

This. I don't remember for certain, but I'm around 95% sure that no light comes on unless it's "Off". I press Set, I press the number, it beeps. I press the number later, and it moves everything to that position.

If the car isn't on yet, you have to hold the number to get everything to move, but I don't think you ever have to hold Set.

^That is how I did my driver's seat. Only the Off button is lit when pressed.

When I first did my seat, I made sure the Off button wasn't lit; moved the seat to how I wanted it as well as the mirrors; pressed the set button; held down the 1 button until it beeped and it was then programmed. I find I do have to hold the 1 button if I need to get my seat back to my liking (it gets changed when I take it in for service for instance...I'm not exactly tall, haha).

Was very straightforward.

Well looks like I found the problem! I've tried all the methods you guys told me but nothing happened. After that I was thinking about that motor heigh adjustment fault and that I have read somewhere else on the forum that doing a full travel on the motor to "calibrate" it could fix an issue for mirror position. So I decided to give it a try for my seat, I bring it up to the highest point then back down to the lower position . You know what ? My set button started to work ! When I press it it light up, then I choose the memory button a got a confirmation beep! And now everything works fine with my memory seats!

I forgot to mention that after doing the full travel, I've been able to clear the 03332 fault without it coming back after ignition cycle.

For what it's worth...
I had the same issue with my 2011 S4. All of a sudden at around 50,000 miles the seat memory quit working. The orange light on the "off" button lit when it was off, and the red backlighting came on all the buttons when it was dark out, but the "set" button did nothing. (It has a small red light in the upper right corner that comes on when you press it, then you press the 1 or 2 to set the memory.) I bought a new switch and installed it but that didn't solve the problem so I found this thread, and another one that said the same thing about full travel on the seat. I ran the seat all the way forward then all the way backward and....nothing. Still wouldn't work. Was about to give up but then tried moving it fully up then fully down and now it works. Guess it depends which seat motor is giving the fault code.

Oddly enough this just happened to the wife - I remembered this thread and had her move the seat to the limits Front to Back then Up to Down. Turns out that's not enough - you also need to move the Bolster (4 Circles) and I even had to adjust the back tilt (Didn't hit the limits on this one).

I also reset the MMI in there as well, along with cycling the ignition a time or two.

With all that - the message is to make sure to move the seats to the limits in all directions and then try resetting the MMI and cycling ignition if it's still not working - It abviously get's hung up on something and you need to trigger that item to get it to reset.

Hello! In my case I only moved the seat height up and down to the limits while the ignition was on. Hope this helps !

I had same problem on my 2015 S4 .a year or so I fixed it by using buttons on seat to put seat back & forth two times & up and down two times. Recently this trick did not work, I went to dealer, car was out off factory warranty. Dealer replaced the module that had set button & two positions. door panel had to be taken off , new module installed & coded! Dealership charged me nothing! The part was about $138 and there was one hour of actual time spent of the install. I asked tech if I wore out the button? He said common problem, he had replaced module before several times .

I was having the same issue on my 2015 S8 and I did just StageS4 said: ignition on, moved the seat all the way up and down and forwards and backwards a few times, and the issue went away and I as able to set my memory seat again. Hope this helps!
