iJDMTOY 3000K LED Fog Lights- Review

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
There have been a few threads popping up lately for LED variants of foglights, but none have been for yellow. A couple days ago I found a set of 3000K H8/H11 LED fog lights on iJDMToy for $89.99 and took the plunge. They arrived today so I thought I'd share my review of them thus far.

    Review
Build quality of the bulbs seems very good and they appear to have solid construction. Install on the B8.5 was very easy, everything is plug and play and I received no error messages when testing them. I used a little 3M double sided tape to mount the resistors up and away from the belly pan. The light output on them seems very good and the color is amazing, it is not a dull yellow and is very vibrant. IMO, these are significantly better than the "gold standard" Hoen Endurance fogs that I've used previously. I will take some more pictures once it gets dark, but so far I am quite happy and impressed .

Love it! I can't get over how nice they are IRL. I hope they last awhile. Unlike the crappy Hoens.

I'm really not digging the (lack of) light output of my Hoen yellow bulbs....please post up long term impressions as you get more use out of them. I like that they are LED and not HID....no warm up time and color changing.

These look great! I just installed HID's in my fogs and the install was a pain trying to find a place to mount the ballast and error canceller on the driver side. Wish I would have seen there first. These look like they are much easier to install.

Wow, keeping an eye on this one. Have set of the "gold standard" bulbs myself that have been just sitting on the table waiting to go in. Me thinks I may have to pick up a set of these if they prove to hold up well over time.

Just to update everyone, I've had these in for almost a month now and have no complaints. No bulb out warning messages, no flickering, no melting housings, etc. Going strong thus far.

Whats the longest you've let them run? I had a set of cheap fogs once, melted the housing after a few hours of driving with them on :/

Couple hours. They're also LED so they shouldn't run as hot as standard bulbs either.

    Doing this fosho. Thanks dude!

One question - do you need to remove the housing to install or can they be installed from under the car?

I did not try it from below the car, but it is very easy to remove the fog grille and housing. It literally takes 60 seconds per side to get everything out and then it doesn't require a lift or ramps.

Wait seriously? Are the grilles just held in with a couple snap in clips? Looks like a couple bolts hold the housing in

Yep, there is a small hole in one of the corners that you can put an allen wrench into and hook it, then just give it a solid tug and the grille pops right out. Then the housing itself is just 2 torx bolts.

Good thing we have smart asses to keep everyone in line. Grow up. Just presenting another option for half the cost with same quality of light output. You go with LEDs for longevity. Well I have been using DDM kits for over 10 yrs in all my cars and never once had s problem. Sorry for offering another option for those interested.

    Yo relax.

Yellow HIDs suck. End of story. HID fog kits are a good option is you want 5k or above but yellow HID light always has that ugly greenish hue to it. If you want true yellow, LEDs are the way to go...and since this thread is about YELLOW fogs, your HID comment is misplaced. kthnxbai.

Yes, I agree, DDM HIDs are indeed a lower cost option; however, having had both now, I will say IMO that the LEDs are overall better. They do not have warm up time, have no green hue to them at all, are not affected by hot/cold, are easier to install (only 1 small converter to find a mounting point for vs a ballast and converter), are equally as bright, and *should* outlast traditional HIDs. They are pricier, but I had color mismatch issues with my 3k DDM kit and decided to try a new/not well known product.

I am very happy with them and they are the truest yellow I have seen. The color will take you by surprise, especially if you are used to Hoen or HIDs. I was skeptical based on the pictures on their website, but they are 100% accurate to what they will look like.

    right?

I mean OPs thread is about his review on IJDMTOY's LED fog lights and how they're still going strong today. you come in with "another option" with DDM Tuning's HID Fog kit, which like other members have said, suck in general.

would it have been better if all i said to reply to your post was, "Cool story bro?" Would you not have gotten as butt-hurt? you sir, need to grow up.

Awesome thanks a lot My set shipped tonight.. I take that the 3M tape is strong enough to hold it against cold wet and vibrations? Or perhaps drill a whole and add a zip tie?

Very nice review. I may have to purchase a set and use these in the winter months. The only complaint I would have though, is that the light's focal spot isn't adjustable like the VLEDs which I currently have in 5000K. How is the output and glare from the oncoming driver's perspective?

I hope that's not going to be an issue since the fog lights themselves are so low and pointed down that we will not blind other driver, I have Piaa crystal Ion bulbs in there now and the light output is a joke especially in rain and or fog!! Just,as well not be there. I noticed more light is pushed to the sides almost as if the fogs were cornering light v.s true fogs with nice wide and low light dispersion. I'll let you guys know once I install them.

I got the outdoor 20lb stuff from Lowes, so they are definitely stuck tight. I'm not positive about the glare/aiming, but I will say I've never been flashed at night while driving with them on like I had been w my HID. These have a decent cutoff despite them being in a reflective housing vs a projector.
