CTS Turbo Downpipe & Silicone Hoses Installation & Review

I'm back with another CTS turbo product. This time its their downpipe for the Audi A4/A5 B8. After purchasing their catback exhaust system i wanted it to be louder. And this downpipe definitely did the trick.

HFC was not installed in the video but here are the parts. I added the hose too.

This took me longer to take out than expected. I ended up snapping 2x bolts and dremeling off the last one.

Installation is strighfoward, but does require removing the catback in order to slide in the new downpipe.

The pipe touches the shield but it seems fine.

    Catback+coupler+downpipe

The Silicone Hoses was straightfoward to install too. However since the hose diameter was different on the turbo outlet i had to use a clamp that i had lying around. CTS needs to include a clamp for this part.

Be sure to transfer the gasket when installing the outlet.

How's the drone on the exhaust? My DP gave me some pretty serious drone at about 2500 rpm. I wonder if it's just made worse because it's a wagon.

The drone was less. Idk how but it is. My theory is that the air is no longer trapped in the resonator and since the CTS resonator and mufflers are straight through (i can see light). All the drone is pushed out the back. And let me tell you it is loud bass-wise when u stand behind my car. BTW i don't think this is meant for the all road because the fitment was great. (I know that u had issues with fitment in your post)

Weird.. I have a sedan and I had terrible fitment. The DP had to be cut for me.

    I like the sound though

Yeah that is a bit odd. If you look at the picture touching the transmission shield it looks fine. What was wrong with yours?

Can you that have installed the CTS downpipe measure the length of it and verify that they are the same.
I just installed a CTS HFC and it's a bit to short to fit properly to the DP. Perhaps the quality inspection at CTS is not as good as it should be?
I know they are using some jig to make these parts but would not hurt to see if they are the same size.

Aw man you are making me want to get this CTS exhaust! I am a little put off by some people complaining about the DP fitment.

Do you have the coupler for your exhaust? Look at my exhaust pics. What catback are you running?

I was afraid of fitment too but I was ecstatic when i put it on and it fit. Love this exhaust. If you can have a reputable shop install all this do it. Took a lot of time and effort doing this myself with only ramps and a jack

I'm on that after college loan repayment budget... If I get it I will probably install myself and not get the DP.

I would actually recommend you get the downpipe. Its not the same without. The exhaust was ok at best when high rpm shifting but with this new downpipe. Every time i step on the gas i smile.

BTW what kind of model a4 do you have

Yes some bending was needed. It was cut towards the end (towards the cat) so that my AWE exhaust could fit

I have the Milltek exhaust atm but will change it coz of the terrible sound at low rpm.
The CTS HFC came with the k04 turbo and it have the stock mount towards the DP.
When I get the new exhaust I will ask the workshop to try the stock DP if they encounter the same problem as before.
CTS kind of blamed the problem on Milltek's DP.

So as some write here the CTS DP is to long and I see the HFC is to short. Perhaps the CTS DP+CTS HFC could.....
    Nah! Probably not :)

I have the CTS Testpipe and CTS Downpipe. I still encountered the issues with it being too long. I had to cut the one pipe down.

The only fitment issue for me was going from dual to quad. But thats a given. So a little cutting was required. However CTS Downpipe + Catback Fit perfectly together. The only drone i get is when i step on it hard but i like the sound it makes. Once cruising at 80-90mph i have no drone at all 6th gear

My drone usually comes on during high gears around 1000-1500 rpm when you step on it, which kinda sucks for highway driving but I don't mind drone at all. Straight pipes were an option for me haha

what size is the end of the cts turbo downpipe? where it connects to stock exhaust, is it 2.25 or 2.5”?
