    Just went stage 1 from Solo Motorsports

    Real clean shop, nice fellas there, and very reasonable prices. Josh threw a stage 1 flash on my car a few days ago. I didn't bother doing a dyno tune since I'm stock everything else. I will more than likely go back for whenever I decide to put a pulley on the car.

    Car runs very smooth, no hiccups. Gear changes at WOT are actually noticeably smoother since it is able to maintain boost and carry torque now. While the revs do appear to climb faster than before, the biggest difference in my opinion is while I'm just daily driving around town and to work. Throttle response at part throttle is more responsive and it pulls better when leaning into it while in 7th gear on the highway, it doesn't need to downshift to accelerate. All gears seem to be more responsive now.

    One of my biggest and only gripes about he DSG trans in my car is if I don't come to a complete stop and the trans doesn't downshift into first. Often times it is when I'm turning right on a red light and have to pull out into traffic... the damn car used to not downshift into first even when I hit the kickdown button and the bottom of second gear would be a real turd. Now it gets right up and goes! Second gear pulls a lot better and now I don't even feel the need to downshift into first when merging into flowing traffic.

    I'll probably go up to the mountains in a couple weeks to see how it feels compared to my last time up. It didn't have much pull going up steep grades and my buddy in his M5 was keeping pretty close. We'll shall see.

    They do, and they do a Base Line dyno to see Before readings, then complete the tune, then do another dyno for the After, so they're def capable of it :)

    A dyne queen is someone who has big horsepower and doesn't run anywhere else. Audi's making 360whp should never ever, ever be referred to has dyno queen anything.

    Regardless of power level, those who care only about dyno numbers fit the mold of a "Dyno Queen" referring to the person more so that then car.

    I would question that. Shift point is 6k. You are now clearly shifting at 6300 on subsequent shifts. 1st gear shift at 5300 is not good. If there was a reason for the short shift I get it. If you were just doing a flat run in manual mode, and that is repeatable, I would request them to revisit the map.

    Prior to my Uni Stage one my shift points were 6k. The tune raised the shift point to 6300 - to get
    more the TCU needs a tune. My first time from Uni early shifted as well - 5900. With this new version it doesn't happen and I have a slightly higher shift point.

    So, in manual mode with WOT is your car shifting at 5300 consistently?

    Notorious huh? I must not have got that option. LOL

    Again, if he is consistently shifting at 5300 after a tune I would question it. Or, I suppose you could be happy with a car consistently shifting well before redline.

    Logged the stock trans at the drag strip. If you use launch control, it will short shift 1-2 around 5.4k on the b8.5. Only way around it is a TCU tune I would wager.

    Interesting. I have a B8.5, have used launch control several times, and it has not short shifted on me. Hits 6300in first consistently.

    It has avoided redline in first however, if I am NOT in manual mode.

    I have a 2011, redline is 7krpm, from the video it looks like Audi changed the redline to 6krpm or so on the B8.5, really?

    TCU Tune will solve it. Pulls like a completely different car above 6,300rpm now.

    Mine is set up as follows regardless of mode. (different brand tune than OP'er)

    1-->2 6,900 RPM
    2-->3 7,150 RPM

    The pulls I made yesterday were in manual mode but not using LC. I'll try again using LC and see where it lands.

    Let's get this straight. 1. No need for a dyno run since he just got a stage 1 flash. 2. Anyone saying ypu should've questioned the tune isn't thinking properly... this isn't a custom tune it's a finalized flash... and Josh from solo has been around longer than most euro fans out there... before solo he was epic turning group, and before that he was jfonz... I've personally had several tunes by him and he doesn't release a "flash" (non custom tune) until it's fully worked out... if you were concerned about the 5300 shift point it was most likely user error (probably didn't realize foot wasn't all the way to the floor. Not saying the user doesn't know how to drive just saying errors happen...

    Yeah I'm with you buddy. This shit isn't magic, a stage 1 flash is nothing crazy. I'm very happy with Josh's work and looking forward to him getting a TCU tune or even stage 2 in the next year or two. I'm constantly learning the little nuances of the car and will give the tune a few more days to settle in.

    I've seen 600rwhp cars run 12s and my 550rwhp 4600lb Ford Lightning run 10s.... So I never get wrapped around the axle about dyno numbers. A driver's experience matters the most with a weekend driver or DD.

    These guys run a good event... next one in Nov. Should give you time to get helmet, brake stuff, etc. Novice group can run with instructors or solo.

    Josh road tuned my b5 way back when he did it out of his house, doing logging runs down a 1 lane access road. He's been in the game.

    That's what I've been trying to say. There's no way josh'll let a standard flash be released without working out all the kinks. Awesome guy as well.

    I couldn't agree with you more. With a stage 1 flash it is all about the feeling of waking your car up for the first time. When I got my first tune on my b5 s4, It was a second hand jfonz tune (Josh from solo - but back in the day) and not o owing what to expect the car scared the crap out of me on my first 19-20 psi pull. Great work from him and I completely trust his judgment.

    don't get hung up on my dyno post.. it had nothing to do with how much you make.. but more to see the progress your car made in the difference of power from stock vs stage 1 .. if you think i'm hung up on Dyno numbers.. find my post of dyno numbers of what i made Stage 2 and i will personally pay for your dyno
