AutoDip new to the market anybody used it ?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So this has just hit the market so I'm guessing no one has any reviews regarding it. But if someone does please do tell!

But if you havnt heard about it check it out

    www.autodip.com

Very similar to how PlastiDip works but its not a rubber base like plasti ....so you dont get that rubber ugly look plasti gives that seems the turn ugly and dusty in a week. Infact this AutoDip stuff if meant to look just like a vinyl wrap since its vinyl based.

Comes in non matt colors thank god! And even do metallic colors

Shit is expensive around $30 a can!!

    Lookie :

Not gonna lie its exactly what I need but 30 bucks a can ... Damn

It looks pretty sweet, but using a can to spray the whole car would be excruciating. Maybe they will come out with a air sprayable one similar to what plastidip uses.

    Edit*
Looks like they have ready to spray gallons but you have to be a professional installer.

And it's a hazardous material, so they charge more for shipping, plasti dip is the same way, it's just convenient that they have it at every hardware store so you don't have to pay shipping

Plastidip is all in the application. I did my GTI two years ago and by now it was looking terrible so I just redid it yesterday. The A4 I bought was done at the exact same time as my GTI (it was a buddy and we both did them the same week) and it still looks like vinyl. Most people ask if it's wrapped. Even my second go did not come out anywhere near as well as the A4 still looks. He took the time to do it well, I rushed the job. Both were flat black (GTI is now gray) and used the same products, so it's a pretty apparent difference. I can get some really detailed pics if anyone is interested.

I do not agree, I can easily see the orange peel in your pictures. Plastidip is no where near as nice as vinyl or possibly this new stuff.

    This.

"looks like paint!" - from 100 ft away. Every car i have seen plastic dipped has looked horrible close up. even with this "high gloss" stuff. I will never do my full car in plasti dip.

Don't get me wrong, dip has its place, i have it on some trim pieces, and my front grille... but never doing a full car.

edit: this being said^ a buddy of mine may try doing his car with plasti dip through a painter's gun, and in a professional booth. I'm interested to see the finished product.

The reason for the orange peel is because of my experience spraying the dip, it's my first car dipped so I didn't really know the gun ran, I'll post a picture of my mirrors which are dipped and they are smooth as paint

Yeah, doesn't look anything like even a decent paint job. Shit, even compared to a good rattle can job. Plastidip is fun to play with, but meh.

It's all in the application, which takes practice, you can get the same orange peel effect on regular paint, I'm new to this stuff so I'm still practicing, it's just nice to have an extra layer of protection on my car

I purchased two cans and will be doing all the plasti dip sections on my car (front grill and fog surrounds). Currently I have black plasti dip with plasti dip glossifier on top to 'try' and make it shine.

I've heard nothing but great things about this product so I'm pumped

I'm in for updates as well. As much as I like PD something with a built-in gloss that supposedly looks like actual paint and is reversible sounds too good to be true.

I've been reading reviews and there all great ... Just look at the hashtag #autodip on Instagram everyone is saying great things.

I really wanted to spray my interior trim with one of the metallic colors but this shit is expensive !

Finally got around to spraying bits of my car with this AutoDip product.

I would definitely recommend it. Very forgiving and very easy to use. x10 better than plastidip.

I used plastidip on my grill surround and license plate holder with a top coat of plastidip glossyifer but it was never as glossy as this stuff, and the blacks were never fully black with plastidip, always a greyish look. But my biggest hate was since plastidip is rubber based, all the dust would stick to it and it turned to poop.

I sprayed my rear valance, grill surround, license plate holder and my newly installed cupra R lip :-)

No good day time sunny photos until tomorrow :-)

Looks decent, I think it could be greatly improved with an actual sprayer though rather then a can. It appears to still give you a little bit of orange peel look.

i used 2 whole cans ( there large cans ) on all the parts. Just looked at in outside in the sun for the first time today, there is one bit on my grill that needed more coverage. thats what i get for spray painting in the dark. all in all looks goo tho

The website doesn't recommend using it to paint an entire car or large panels (aka roofs, hoods, etc).

Q: Can I use Autodip aerosols to paint my hood, roof or my whole car?
A: No, we do not recommend using Autodip Do-It-Yourself Aerosols to cover your hood, roof or your whole car as the surface is too large to evenly apply Autodip.
Looks great for trim and wheels though. I have doubts that a pro couldn't get an even coat also.
