    Dead Pixel line on MMI

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys, this has come up recently and if I'm not going blind, the line is getting longer and longer..

What are my options here? I have CPO but I have APR stage 1, and an AWE catback / CTS turbo downpipe. Will those affect my CPO for MMI?

OR Is there any known fixes for dead pixels?

    Thanks!

i don't think even the dealer would try to blame an exhaust and stage 1 on the LCD screen lol, so hopefully i think it should be covered most likely.

as for a fix, it would be easier on a laptop/phone as you can control what to show, there's utilities you could use that flashes the scree rapidly to try to "unstick" the pixels. but for this you can't really do that unless you have a way to mirror your phone to it. but i'm guessing maybe the dealership could have a tool that does this as well. but i think most likely you may just have to replace the screen and the mods shouldn't affect CPO unless they want to just use that as an excuse.

Dont you dare take it to the dealer with the tune on there. They will, regardless of what you think, will run the scan tool on your car. No doubt about it, even if its something completely unrelated to the screen.

    ^ Haha

They'll absolutely cover it, even if you were flagged TD1... That being said, if I was in your position I'd remove the tune to avoid the TD1 for future warranty claims, just in case.

Take the tune off before going to dealer because they will scan the car they probably will replace it.
There might be a line in the CPO that says warranty doesnt cover screen pixels, but if that was the case the screen is really easy to replace and they go for 160-300$ used on ebay from Europe.

Thanks for the input! Just a question though

Wouldn't taking off the tune and putting it back on cost more than just buying one from ebay?

    and

Are there any Audi dealers that are also APR dealers? I know there is VW ones, cause I was hoping a mod friendly dealer would see past it and just get my screen replaced.

From my experience, the tune removal should cost 1 hour of labor, or if you're lucky won't even charge at all. Since you've already purchased the APR tune, the shop you choose will dictate what you pay. Call around and see which one will remove + reinstall for the lowest cost.

Also, I'm 99.999% sure that there are no Audi dealers that are APR distributors.

There use to be some, like the one here in Atlanta, but once TD1 came about with the B8 S4 I think they all stopped.

I would just buy a new one off eBay because you'll probably spend the same amount taking your tune off and putting it on.

    They run around $170 range.

I had my MMI replaced since the dealer cut the screen with a razor blade during pre-delivery setup (that's a whole different story). Although, I was told that they needed to replaced the screen and program it into the car. Personally I think the programming part was just to buy them more time with my car but I could be wrong. Just a heads up.

I paid 50$ to have my tune removed at a shop, but they would've done it for free they said If bought it from them. It's like 10-20 mins hooked up to the laptop some shops are cool and charge you nothing others know people will come every other day if they did it for free so they charge a fee and then there are some that are dicks about it and say 100$+ each time.

lolwut, the screen literally just unplugs. 5 mins tops to pop the trim off un screw it and put a new screen in.

That's what I figured. :) The shop was trying to squeeze me in so they gave me some bull so they could have more time. Glad it was an easy fix!

    Question about warranty:

So basically, I still have CPO warranty until I bring my car in and get flagged with TD1?

That would give me quite the peace of mind, knowing I can go back to stock and get a new powertrain if needed

I mean I don't have any pics of just the dash , I only pulled my screen out to wire in a reverse camera which plugs into the screen. Just posted the pics just show how easy it is.
