    Don't.

Debris and dust etc will be trapped between your car and the cover, creating a sandpaper effect on your paint. The only way to avoid this would be to thoroughly clean your car every time you want to use the cover, and even then you may miss something.

I bought a cheap cover on ebay. I use it pretty much as a "dust cover" in the garage only. Works perfect.
Not at all concerned with scratching ... I only put it on a clean car and wash the cover in the washer every couple months.
I never use a cover outside of the garage because of the "sandpaper" effect.
Ordered an A4 cover as your daddy said. It's not form fitting by any means but that's not what I was after.

I actually will throw on two king sized bed sheets if I'm out of town for over a few weeks (car is garaged). I make sure the car is clean as well as the sheets. done and done.

I did that ... until my wife wanted her sheets back.
Went to the store to buy a couple sheets and found that the ebay car cover actually cost less then the sheets.

I use a covercraft form-fit indoor car cover over the winter while my car sits in the garage. It is super soft, and as such is meant for indoor use only.

I ONLY use it if the car has just been washed, or been given a once over with a duster, followed by quick detailer. If not you'll just get the inside of the car cover dirty, and that dirt will just rub into the paint marring, and swirling it.

I am going to have to store the RS outside during the winter. I drive her 1 day a week and use my commuter car the other 4 days. One of the great things about a garage is being able to hop in your snow free car and just drive off. I was thinking about the Noah cover as it looks to be the most robust.

I understand the concern of swirls. I am pretty good about a coat of Wax/sealant going on right before winter. Would it be better to have it sit uncovered in the weather and sun than to have it covered and potentially get paint swirls? That is the question for me...

I would cover it, but only after a wash, and wax. Use a good quality outdoor cover that breathes, and allows moisture to escape. The cover also needs to be put on properly so that it doesn't flap around as that will only cause damage over an extended period of time.

If you are going to drive it from time to time, I would at least use a duster, and waterless, or rinseless wash before covering it again.

Unless you are really committed to cleaning the car every single time before you put on the cover, these car covers are a terrible idea. As noted above, any variation in this will get your cover dirty and then you will get scratches.

Of course, I suppose you could just budget in the cost of taking the car to a professional for paint correction every so often unless you have the equipment and skills to do the paint correction yourself.

pretty sure that if you clean your car properly and throw on a freshly washed cotton sheet while the car sits in the garage for 3 weeks, no harm is done. at least I hope so!!!

The OP is storing the car indoors, but the person we are responding to is keeping his car outside, in the winter, in the North East.

As Blake mentioned, it takes commitment to do it right. The car cover is supposed to prevent damage, but if you just throw it onto a dirty car, you contaminate the inside of the cover for the next use, and swirl up your car. In the end, I'd cover it after the conditions I posted. If you drove it in the rain, snow, etc without cleaning it, I would leave it uncovered until you had a chance to do so.

Either way after a winter in the northeast, come spring time , a polish, and wax are usually needed. With a cover I'd imagine the swirling, etc would be alot less than if it was just exposed to the elements.

+1 Great product. Can view indoor and outdoor covers that they offer here. We just had a bunch of custom ones made for some of the race cars we have in house. Really great quality.
