Euro "Refrigerated" Glove Box Installed

In my quest for Euro stuffs, I came across the refrigerated glove box insert.

It uses the tube for the standard chilled box but routes it into the chiller box.

It's lightly insulated and actually works pretty well so far on my trip. 2 hours in and the water bottle still frosts a bit when I take it out.






I have to relocate the light at some point but no big deal.

The only draw back is you have to keep AC on if you want it cold, kinda common sense but still.

It's not perfect, I'll admit. For how much I actually kept in the glove box it was worth it.

I wish they had an actual compressor cooled refrigerator as in the A8 or Q7.

Yup that would've been pretty nice. With our glovebox size though this is still a great option, especially during long hauls.

My mk5 gli had one of these. Kinda pointless really, as it just pumps the temp of your hvac into the glovebox. But, I guess it's cool to brag about.

My Wife's Q3 has this. At first I was skeptical, but it works decently for sure.

i hardly ever use A/C so this isnt something ive really thought about BUT i was curious how well it worked. Thanks for the writeup.

It takes air from an intermediate point in the HVAC system that is as cold as possible, so it's not the temperature from the vents.

You can fit a couple of water bottles inside and a few candy bars, enough for a road trip.
It's nice that the door has a gasket so it keeps the cool in. There are three baffled holes in the top that let air trough so it flows in well.

I'd imagine the actual insert definitely helps insulate the glove box so it stays cooler for longer much like a mini fridge would without having to have the AC cranked the whole time. Either way it's neat little amenity.

Just have to update that I'm very impressed with this box-anyone who attended Waterfest this weekend knows how hot it was ~105 in the sun if not worse today.

I had a bottle of water sitting in the box, in the sun, all day which made the water undrinkable. I left for home at roughly 3PM with the A/C on and took out the bottle 45 minutes later-It was as cold as if it were in an actual refrigerator. This means that if I wanted it sooner it was well within cool enough to drink.

Also, I punched out the pre-cut vent holes in the glove box itself for airflow.
