E55 AMG vs C6.5 A6 or S6

Hey guys so I have been looking at getting out of my C5 S6 and into something newer and faster. Anyways I have been looking at a few C6 S6 and a few C6.5 A6 3.0T. I really like the cars but the other day I had a friend recommend me to take an E55 AMG out for a spin, I did that... DAMN that thing is quick! I loved the power, the interior was nice, the car looks beautiful and sound amazing, the best part is, is that it's in my price range! So I'm not very familiar with AMG's and I thought I would ask you guys if you knew anything about them. Reliability, and known issues. I have looked on line but I still need to get used to other forums. I am mostly on AZ. Do you guys have any pro's and con's or S/A6 vs E55? Also does anyone know of any good AMG forums?

The simple fact is that an E55 will blow the doors off a C6, there's not much doubt about it. However, the E55s have their own level of issues (i.e. Pano roof rattle, Airmatic = Allroad air suspension). As for really good MB forum specific to E55, here you go: http://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg-81/. Also, you may want to look at the E63 as well.

Just like the S6, there can be a litany of issues with the E55 which can make them very expensive to operate and hence why their prices, similar to that of the S6s have plummeted.

as far as speed goes the 55 will smoke both C6's, If you don't care too much about AWD then the Merc is the best bang for the buck it will be much cheaper then the S6 and a bit cheaper then the 3.0T. As far as maintenance goes the Benz is more reliable easier and cheaper to fix then the Audi. Your biggest concern on the E55 is Air Suspension (Crapmatic) but you can eliminate it by switching to Coilovers, which is what I did on my CLS55. At the end of the day it all comes down to what your looking for it its comfort and technology the S6 has the E55 beat but if you want speed the AMG is the way to go with 470HP stock and with $5000 you can make that car 650HP its a no brainer

Thanks for all the replies guys. I do miss power. I have a C5 S6 now and after owning a STG 3 S4 I just miss power.
Don't get me wrong the S6 is nice and smooth but just lacks that punch to it.

with the upgrades available for the E55:

Tune, air filters, extractors, high flow cat, TB, pulley upgrade, cams...

you could push around 700HP. The bigger question will be how much can you actually use ;)
