Figured I'd revive this thread since I thought about this over the holiday week as I was driving to PEI, Canada.
I couldnt for the life of me find 93! ugh.. I was able to scrape by in ME but the story changed once I hit the boarder. I thought it was going to be the other way around based on what I heard here. I thought I would have more issues in ME vs Canada.
Anyway, I topped off with 93 at the start of the Airline in Maine. I stopped at the boarder, no 93. Stopped in Moncton, no 93. Stopped at every station I passed once I was close to the bridge to PEI. Absolutely no 93. I even asked the station attendant once I got to PEI if there was 93 anywhere on the island. He looked at me like I had a few heads and actually said " I have no idea what you are talking about."
At that station, I said Eff it, and filled all the way up with 91 and took on 60Litres! I had less than a gallon of fuel left! haha.
I'm not usually a 93 Nazi, but since my 93 tune, I have been more and more cautious. As the shop that installed my tune said that if I run 91 too much, my 93 tune will remap itself and turn into a 91 tune and not give me the same output until I get the 93 map reinstalled. (not sure how true this is).
Anyway, I swear I felt the loss of power with the 91. And I lost a lot of gas mileage running 91.
I have heard of people carrying and adding fuel additives to their 91 when they cant get 93. I might go this route. And I hope 2 tanks of 91 wont be detrimental to my tune..
I will have to do more research when I plan on going back..
