knocking noise on passenger side when accelerating from a full stop

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello! the passenger side of my suspension is making a knocking sound when I accelerate from a full stop. It doesn't knock when i accelerate at speed or turning. I replaced upper and lower control arms, sway bar links and also my cv axle. Tie rods doesn't make any noise or movement. I didn't check my rear passenger side suspension yet but it seems like the knocking noise is coming from the front end. Any suspension parts that could be the problem?

Likely engine mount failure. Less likely is some worn bushing.

Are engine mounts easy to replace? Now I hear it in the rear of the car. I do have worn shocks but don't shocks make noise when there are bumps and not on take off from stop?

Could be engine mounts or it could be suspension related. Have you poked your head around to see if anything is obviously wrong?

Had my wife convinced her car was broken for a good 3 days.

lol would check on that later... I would feel dumb for buying all those parts if it was the cause of that.

I just did my 034 mounts (from JHM too :) ) this past weekend. Here is the DIY I followed:
    http://sandbox.enjoybeing.net/diy/S4/motor-mounts/

Make note that the 3 bolts on the motor mount bracket are 1-time use bolts, and if you remove the front sway, the end link bolts are too.
Buy new bolts before you start the project.

Overall it's not hard. Passenger side is difficult, but not impossible. Also remember to disconnect your battery, otherwise when wrestling out the passenger side bracket, you will make contact with the starter terminals and cause a shower of sparks in your face. Ask me how I know.

Ordered them from ECS. I think it took a few extra days because they were special order or something. The part numbers are listed in that DIY. You need 8 bolts total. 2 long ones for the subframe location, and the 4 shorter ones for the other mounting points. 3 bolts per motor mount. Then 1 bolt for each end of the swaybar.

Just changed my motor mounts and it was straight forward but frustrating to do. Good thing I had some short stubby wrenches because it would be impossible to unbolt the upper nut of the motor mount due to limited space. I found out that the upper nut of the mount was loose like a prostitute's vagina. Which could be the cause of the sound. Although mounts are in good shape, I switched them out anyways. Will update after the test drive. :O
