    A Decade of the B7A4

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
In late 2004 Audi released it's B6 A4 replacement in Germany with a 1.8t and 2.0 N/A engine option, with new body stylings and upgraded suspension. When the B7 A4 hit the Northern American market (officially Feb 2015), Audi introduced their 2.0tFSI engine ($24,000-$31,000), and a 3.2L Variant($31,000-$39,000).

2015 marks 10 years since the B7 was debuted in the U.S with very positive reviews. The sleek yet aggressive styling carries the decade old car into 2015 without much trouble, and I often still have people confusing my 06 for a current model year A4/S4. Even the interior which carries over large portions of its design from the B6, I still see it being current and if not ahead of some of the interiors found on the domestic market today..
Just looking at other cars from 2005, there is a stark difference...

How many members here have owned their cars from the begining, or plan on owning theirs till the end? there is a huge aftermarket for this car that is still going strong despite so many hurdles. The more affordable this car gets, the more people that have sought after this model can finally buy one. With potentially another strong decade ahead of the platform, can we consider the B7 A4 a collector car?

I feel the design and character of the B7 is timeless, but am I just blinded by my love of this platform?

Post up your stories, photos or feelings about your car now that it has hit the dreaded 10 year mark which usually leaves many feeling its time for a new car..

Phils (Fly300kts) 2005.5 B7 A4, probably the most positive asset to our community, and a stunning example of our ten year old platform!

It will be collected by few, but no production car usually gets to collector status.

I'll only be in mine for 4yrs this month. Bought as a "family car" replacement for my Mazda RX8, and I've been pleasantly surprised with the car. I drive about 28k mi/yr and the car has been pretty good to me. I'll most likely keep it until it's crashed. Even a failed engine/transmission will most likely get replaced/repaired.

Overall it's a good car that still looks nice for being 10yrs old. It handles most tasks well, and isn't a bore to drive. Considering the price of entry has dropped under $10k for a good number of cars, I expect we'll continue to see an increase in the population of owners for awhile.

2.5 years into owning mine, and no plans on selling anytime soon. It's right where I want it to be: all up to date on maintenance, no leaks, plenty of power, etc. What a joy to drive. I don't think it'll be a collector any time soon, but that's just fine by me. It keeps parts cheap!

Have owned my B7 since Oct. 2006. With 127K on the clock, I've entertained the thought of a new S4, but it just doesn't excite me visually like the B7 did. I plan to hang on to this for a few more years.

Agreed, Phil's B7 is one of the best examples of a pristine A4.

Bought my 6MT brand new on May '07. Only had 57K on her since I was overseas for 4 years. Thought about selling her before I left but having no car payments is awesome! Currently on APR STG1. Once I have all parts that I need for STG2 (may jump to JHM ), then I'll stop for now and focus on maintenance. Love her and it's cheaper to keep her!!!

I think the b7 rs4 and b7 s4 25 quattro will be collector items due to the number produced. However there will always be some great looking b7 a4 around. Still prefer the body style and feel of the b7 over the other generations. Had mine for two years last may. I figure about another year and a half to finish up the mods i want on my car bags, stage 3, dtm conversion with rs4 fogs and rs6 grille.

Started with a B5 A4, then made the trade in for a B6 A4 Sline. Now, currently, still have the B7 A4 Sline with the Titanium package. Surprisingly, I've had very little maintenance issues with this platform. There was a recall handled around 30k miles and since I've just done routine things and recently had to replace the thermostat and temp sensor. She's still working wonders and will be holding onto her for some time.

My very first car I got back in 08 was this:

    Current car:

I guess I always knew I'd back in a b7 but do it all right the second time around. I'm glad I waited to get back into it, I covered some bases with the cars I owned in between to give me an idea of whats out there, but super glad to be back in one. Just feels like home.

Honestly, I didn't much like our B7 when we first got it new back in 08. I was driving (still have it for weekends) a Porsche Boxster, but a baby was on the way, and we needed a family-ish car. The B7 kinda fit the bill because I was not ready for a big SUV (have one now too..lol), it looked good, had Quattro for the winters, wasn't too expensive, and good with gas with the little turbo 4 banger. I hated the engine though - it was my first ever turbo powered car, and I couldn't stand the turbo lag. It felt slow and the engine vibrated like a massage chair when the car was stopped at a light (still does). Seats also hard and not supportive. Wifey drove it though, so I didn't care until I bought her a new car back this past Nov, and I had to start using the B7 as my daily commuter car. Was seriously considering trading it in for something else but it only had 16k miles on it at the time, so decided to keep it and live with it. Couldn't stand how boring it felt, so recently got a Stage 1 APR tune though, and it's like a whole different car! It still has the turbo lag, but because of the extra boost, I actually enjoy driving her now to and from work, and have learned to overlook all the other cons I mentioned earlier cause it's finally fun to drive now. These cars shoulda left the factory this way from the get go in my opinion, and now I'm a big fan of the B7.

Looking forward to more smiles and miles with her...and the platform still looks great for it being so old...

Well, despite her being a CVT I still love my B7 to death! Bought it brand new and had it since late '07 (final 2008 model). It is bone-stock and never been abused. Will it be a collector's car? To me it will because I planned on keeping it for as long as I can and will eventually be doing all the major maintenance myself (thanks to Audizine!!!).

It will be 10 years this November, 165K miles on it right now. WOW! Interior is in perfect shape, can't say much for the outside, but nothing a good detail job can't fix. While I loved the car for the first 120K, I'm slowly starting to fill my heart with frustration. I'm leaking something and it looks like trans fluid (it's thick and lubricating - that's what she said?), but hoping it's the coolant still by power of the god(s).

Within the next 6 months, I will be parting my way with it. I'm inclined to go with another Audi, but I don't know what I can afford yet with a baby along the way. I'm leaning towards the A6/A7 3.0T... can't decide on the TDI vs gas version.

I don't think this will become a collector by any means, but i do think that this is going to be one of those "timeless" designs. I often find that people who are not enthusiasts look at my car and think it is a new audi, even though the b7 is 10 years old now.

I agree with the "timeless" design of the B7. Have only had mine for 2 months and so many people are stunned when i tell them it is 7 years old and has 115k miles. Audi's in general seem to have timeless styling, more than a BMW or Benz in my opinion.
