There's a DIY on redoing it. Pain in the ass. Alternative is to pay and have it done. Should run $400-$500.

Also heard of some folks removing the rear dome light and trying to use a bunch of the 3M adhesive spray. Only temporary though as it will eventually sag again.

Wow, I only charge 200 for a standard material in a sedan

Don't do the dome light thing, as soon as your window opens it's going to pull right off. Complete waste of time

I have gotten two quotes to do it here in Richmond, VA. $400-$500.

Agreed on the spray adhesive, just putting it out there.

Yeah, should be no more than $200 for a headliner job... I paid $500 for labor for mine supplying that carbon fiber look material I got from one of the suppliers on here.

That's not too bad. Mine is in the rear of the car. Not a huge patch but eventually want to do the alcantara headliner.

Free. Requires trim tools, torx bits, and reading of DIY articles.

What dome-light thing? You mean the sunroof shade? It's fabric-covered from the factory.

3M silly string aerosol adhesive cans aren't strong enough for auto headliner use. Pros use DAP Landau Top & Trim Adhesive, sprayed in thin coats and allowed to dry until tacky. There are many fabric choices.
If DIY'ing, use an abrasive tool such as wire wheel (I may try 3M Roloc) to resurface the substrate materials. IE, strip off the old glue residue and what-not. Then lay the new fabric over. Adding pillars to the job raises price. Not sure about B5's, but B6 pillar fabric adhesion is far stronger than the headliner board, and leaves a "yeti-hair" fur that can be removed by singing with a torch, then mechanically abrading. I have enough extra replica suede to do four cars, if anyone is interested. Some people even wrap their dash and center console.

No, i was referring to band-aiding an already sagging headliner by spraying 3m in the dome light hole in the rear

oh. That I don't know, but I'd be curious to try. Unless you want to use DAP instead. Not sure if either can be applied via brush. I'm spraying it through a harbor freight HVLP paint gun (w/ air compressor) I think. With thinner fabric and 3M spray adhesive, I at least had to be careful to coat thinly and let it get tacky, because otherwise it would bleed through the fabric. This doesn't seem to be an issue for foam-backed, as the 1/8"-thick foam absorbs/holds the glue before it reaches the fabric.

I do not use 3m, I use DAP as well. I've only used 3m once and was far from impressed. Foam backed materials are much more forgiving. Just did an ultra suede (customer supplied) headliner. For being ultra suede, it turned out extremely well

When my headliner starts to sag, I'll be doing a black alcantara replacement with a small audi sport logo embroidered on the hump by where the sunroof controls are

For removing the old crud, I've always used a green scotch pad. Works great

I laughed at the yeti hair metaphor, if you'd be interested in re-doing headliners I know a few Socal B5 guys that would be interested including me.
