Plasti Dip Grille and Logos - questions

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
About to have my first go with plasti dip on the grille and had some questions. If I keep the bumper on is it difficult to mask behind the grille?

If I go the route of removing the bumper should I expect it to go back on perfect without anything breaking?

For the badges on the rear, any idea on where to buy a matte black Audi ring badge? I assume that would be easier than masking and painting the rear badge. Thx

Would you recommend also getting the front badge in matte black instead of plastic dipping?

I dipped it with the grill so it would match exactly. On the rear, I bought one slightly larger than stock. I liked it better on my A3.

I dipped my S3 front grill the other day. Left it on the car and used blue painters tape on areas I didnt want to get dip. In addition, if leaving it on the car make sure you pop the hood and cover the radiator with plastic so you dont get overspray in there. It was really easy to do and areas where there was overspray on the car it rubbed right off. Having never used the stuff before I was very surprised. As for the rear- my skills were not up to par on the emblems so I peeled it off with no issues and will try again this weekend. I rushed it and didnt give enough coats prior to trimming it.

Was it hard to mask off behind the grille, its so tight in there wasn't sure how easy it would be to get to

It's held on with two metal clips. One on each side. You can push them off with your fingers, just make sure you don't drop them or they will be stuck behind the bumper.

Anyone know if it would be possible to peel the plasti dip off the rings logo easily without damaging the bumper coat?

If you really want it black .. paint it with the right stuff . Every one dips it but no one paints it.its the little things that make it better .
