Beat by a '98 Pontiac grand prix!?

Guys I've got a serious problem. I just got a new 2015 S4 manual tranny brand spankin new 18 Miles when I bought her. I've been breaking her in "moto man" style. Never take it above 5000 rpm but definitely get on the throttle often. Driving home tonight I happened to be at the line at a red light next to a frikin like '98 Pontiac grand prix. Light turns green and he hammers it so I oblidged in kind and started bangin gears but we were neck and neck all the way up to about 65 mph! So WTF!? did I get a lemon some how? And here's the other thing, I traded in my 2003 Nissan Maxima (255 HP) for my S and I swear my S really feels like it's No faster than my old Maxima! Anybody have any idea what's the Fuk could be going on? I'm an Audi virgin been dreaming of S4 since I was 16 and I'm SEVERELY disappointed right now...

I think some of those came with V8's. Not sure of the year but they can have like 300 HP.

Plus, your car is manual and you just got it. Chances are you just didn't get a good launch and no offense don't know how to get the most out of it yet.

I'd bet do it over a few times and you would win easily because the S4 is way faster but it comes down to the driver in the end.

Grab a VBOX, and launch to 60. I bet you would be in the 6 sec range more times than not until you learned the car better. Plus, you raced to 65, that is 2nd gear anyway hardly a race.

The Grand prix usually have a v6 3.8l supercharged, I am no fan of those engines, but they can make a decent amount of power by-upping the boost. I think they have like 220-230hp stock.

Your car is not slow - he had something under the hood. Grand prix GTP supercharged are only 240-260 hp. If it was the LS4 V8

A properly modded 3.8 GTP will walked a stock B8 or a lightly modded GTP will walk an unproperly driven B8 :) Its really upsetting when you're burned by a Buick Regal GS with the same drivetrain

There used to be a rather large community of GTP enthusiasts who modified the hell out of their cars. There were quite a few in the 11's and faster. You ran up against a well modified version.

I love my S4, it is pretty quick, but I know there are plenty of cheaper faster cars out there. I just remember why I bought it in the first place... The car as a package, not only for speed.

Those GTP are supercharged and run in the 13's with bolt on's and boost mods. So likely he got the jump on you and you couldnt put him away... but those cars ride like crap otherwise...

It's all good man, don't sweat it. You are driving conservatively and still breaking in the car. AND you never know what someone has under the hood. Also, keep in mind the GTP is a luxury performance sedan...and you are in a lowly sport sedan. It's all about the performance, not the sport. --sorry, had to.
