Best brake pads for front replacement 07 A6

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a 2007 Audi A6 and the front brake pads needs replacement i was wondering what is the best brake pad that is reasonable in price and effective in OEM Quality or above. I want my rotors and pads to last long but be able to brake effective at triple digits speeds if necessary.

Many go with Akebono's. Initially I wanted to go for a set of Textar ePads, but I was consistently and persistently recommended to go with Akebono.

I can vouch for Akebono's as well. Have them on my avant and on my old Allroad. Great pads, not too aggressive, and little-to-no brake dust.

Go with Brembo rotors and Akebono pads and you'll be quite happy.

ok so i see Akebono seem to be the best choice here. Do i have to replace my rotors too? I had all brakes and rotors OEM parts changed at 79K and car has 109 K and only front pads needs replacement and mechanic said the rotors can go through a set of pads. But i wouldn't mind changing the rotors if absolutely necessary. The mechanic will do these so i am sure he knows about the anti squeal grease if that is what you meant.

If your rotors haven't surpassed minimum thickness, then you may only need new pads. You can resurface your rotors for $15 each and reuse them especially if they're aren't warped.

I replaced both front and rear. IIRC I paid around $150 total for both sets. $89 is a good price.

For a daily driving brake pad from HAWK I would recommend their ceramic performance street pad to help with brake dust and noise. Their HPS and HP+ tend to get a bit more negative reviews due to how noisy they can be for daily driving use.

We have a large selection of pads here for you to check out. The Akebono are good pads as suggested already. Good luck! :)

just got them on today indeed i am very happy with the results i had one question what is brake fading and what rotors would you guys recommend whenever i do swap them out from oem to whatever chime in i will be trying hawk hps next time unless someone recommends else wise i just want to see what else is out there i like how smooth they brake and don't jerk the car to a stop but still effectively stop it. I will be posting another topic in the forum soon with some questions related to car maintenance minor stuff. I got lucky found someone in town who is actually good working my car and not charge insane amounts so i am about to just over haul it do everything i possibly can that it needs. But thanks a lot for the advice here i will be checking the post frequently for any responses.

Brake fade is a term used to describe the partial or total loss of braking power used in a vehicle brake system. Brake fade occurs when the brake pad and the brake rotor no longer generate sufficient mutual friction to stop the vehicle at its preferred rate of deceleration. You will get a lot of opinions/options for rotors. I swapped my OEM rotors out for Adams Rotors when I swapped all my pads as well and I have been extremely happy with them. ECS sells their GOMET line of rotors which have received positive reviews. All in all, brake rotors are all going to be typically very similar in performance unless you go with a complete BBK (Big Brake Kit) setup.
