I'm in absolute shit DA compared to Los Angeles where I just moved from (DA was always sub 500ft)

I've had this for only a week so I'm sure a lot can be improved.
    -93 file (5 gal E85/Rest 91) but on a 1/4 tank of gas
-be back in LA for a better DA lol
-better road conditions in general I'm sure could drop 0-60 in low 4's and 1/4 in the low 12's
So overall I'm happy with how this land whale performs with just basic mods!
I'm not sure what I am doing wrong but I have some ideas to try and figure it out. Trying a different road and going to some how make sure amax is engaged.

Thanks everyone! I was wondering if those numbers were on par with everyone else for the conditions I was in. Sounds like I'm right about there.
    I'd be very happy to get a Stage 1 91 file in the 4.3 0-60, and 12.5 1/4!

Same day, but 1 minute apart actually. So it was a separate run, I'm surprised DA dropped that much. I wish dragy showed time stamps on the Stat Sheets =/

Even then you might get lean codes from the fuel trims.

I will keep that in mind!
I haven't added the E85 yet, its just something I plan to do so I can bump up the Octane File and hopefully log some better times on Dragy.
I used to add 5gal E85 on the S6 for a 93 file and it ran great with a noticeable difference from 91. So hopefully that holds true on the SQ5 haha

Oh yeah it definitely makes a difference, that should put you in the e20 to e30 range, which just starts getting up there for the stock fuel pump. If the logsnare good with a bit of margin thennyou are all set.

I started out at STG 1 being able to cut 1.8 60ft all the time occasionally breaking into a high 7. I know there are many factors that can impact 60ft times but for me and my set up being largely the same since I started going to the track the bigger pulley ratio has shown the biggest improvement. Now it will cut a 1.7 all day long and for the first time I actually broke into a high 1.6. I have looked at Logs from an APR STG 2 SQ5 running a true DP setup with a 3.24 ratio and while that vehicle is in the Stall /pre launch mode (brake and gas both to the floor) it makes more boost then my 3.0 ratio does.

    100 octane time, new best

Since all the strips have closed down around here, I took her out for a last hurrah before the snow comes. I have heard someone mention you shave a tenth for every 100lbs you remove. Could the same be said for every 500ft of -DA you get? I am roughly two tenths better than my last run that was at a DA about 1000 feet higher.

Wow ! You have come a long way !! Another APR / HPT Q5 making some serious Jam ! Was this on the 100 file ? I remember from your build thread you started out at like a 12.3 !! I knew we could turn your Q around.

Yep, 100 file. I was pleased with this result. Just imagine if I had taken out the seats and the tools/tire in the back...

It has been a fun journey for sure! Once I got that stage I ECU, I was hooked.

    Definitely go 7.2k upshift!
I didnt bother with any of the 7k maps.

Also something to keep in mind and maybe you can put your input in once you test drive the car.....

Myself and another member i saw post about it (cant remember who) have experienced that on 2nd-3rd Upshift, it does not pull all the way to 7.2k for some reason?? It will short shift at 6.8k. And on 3rd-4th and all other gears it pulls to 7.2k...very weird thay only 2nd-3rd gear will do this.
Let me know if you experience the same when you launch the car!

That's crazy! How do you even hook up at that temp? I'm already spinning at launch on APR stage 1 at 45 degrees. What tires are you running? Also, Where are you getting 100 octane in nova? Do you have a TCU tune?

I'm also on the 7.2k map but my best time with a DA of like 150 and 93 octane is 4.65. yes my 2nd to 3rd shifts at 6.7/6.8k I'm not even sure it's shifting at 7.2k ever.

Oh I know what the difference is, its the trans/diff mounts I have. Check my post on the 034 ZF8 Tcu thread a few threads down the page. I explain that a before/after with the mounts installed shaved off .2 on my 0-60 and 1/4mile times and trapped 2mph more too.
It makes a noticeable difference on these cars in both ride quality and performance.
They're not just placebo mods lol

Im not saying those mount / insert upgrades aren't worthwhile but i can't imagine how they make any massive impact like a additional 2mph on a 1/4 mile or tenths of a second off of a 0-60. I'm still on all stock inserts and my STG1 0-60 was a 3.9X. On a left foot brake AMAX launch you are pre loading the transmission, taking any slack out of it prior to launching.

I have to dial back the launch torque a little, but I rarely have problems launching the car even in freezing conditions, I'm running a 295 performance all season at all 4 corners though so the width helps. My best time of 3.32 was done at around 28 outside. Run an all season performance tire and air them down a little. Summer tires blow goat once it's under 50. Give it a couple of runs to get the tires warm too, and hard braking does an excellent job of getting the tires hot too.

My issue right now is I think my belt is slipping and need to try a tighter one, the shift into second is killing my acceleration and not sure why otherwise because the shift itself feels fine, so likely belt as I had to run a 6pk1325 for the 194/57 combo, but going to try either a 1315 or 1310 if it will fit. Otherwise need to order a 7pk1325 from Europe. The 60' times are consistent at 1.71 or 1.72, so it should be much better than the 3.4x it's been doing in the last week.

I run a BANDO 1320 in stock from APR on a 194 Crank with a Stock upper so i know it would fit your set up. I had a 1325 on at first and it squealed terribly. The guy that bolts on these goodies for me also does Cross Fit so that could be the difference LOL !! And before the BANDO sux crowd jumps on here mine has been flawless so far (fingers crossed). Also wanted to add that we tried to get a gates RPM 1310 on it and couldn't squeeze it on. I have a friend that managed to get a gates 1310 over a 192 crank with a 57.75 SC pulley but he struggled big time. So you may be at 1315-1320 and for 40.00 (with shipping) you could order a 1320 from APR and have it to you in a few days.

Give it a couple of runs to get the tires warm too, and hard braking does an excellent job of getting the tires hot too.
I'm on Berks TCU tune too. Are you just launching at 2500 rpm vs 2800? Or are you actually adjusting the tune? I'm just putting both feet to the floor to launch.

Berk got me started and I've been playing with it in HPTuners so nominally 2800 - 3000. Launch torque right now is set at 680 NM, too much more and it spins. But I can see on dragy the acceleration drops during the shift and doesnt recover like it should. It's inconsistent though and logs are fine so making me think belt just because of the way it feels/sounds.

Thanks for the info! Is that a 6 or a 7 rib from APR? I have a 6 in both 1320 and 1325 continental. Have heard such not great things about bando which concerns me a little.

And yeah, the only way I think it's fitting would be to put it on the idler last since it has no lip. I read a thread where a few people fit a 1310 on a 196/57, but I'll have to get under it and see what actually works. At least there are a couple of options available to try.

    I know, I'm loving it!

I throw a little pine tar on the tread. I did actually spin on the run after this. On my logs I see shift ID 25 pop up on every run in the first 100 feet or so. I have not figured out how to keep the car from jumping into that traction control ID, so there definitely is a bit of a traction issue that the car is compensating for. I did up my wheel/tire game. Went from stock to 21" Vorsteiners with 295/35 Conti DWS06. Thanks to Mops for the hookup. For fuel, there is a little station on Church Rd in Sterling that sells pails. They have all the good stuff. I also found the closest pump is in Damascus, MD...or also there is a pump at Summit Point if you are ever out that way. Or you could buy it from NGP in Manassas. I don't know if Sunoco delivers but I want to order a 55 gallon drum just to keep in the garage since I am addicted to 100 and am not going back to 93.

APR part # RS100003 is a 7 Rib Bando belt 7PK1320. I don't know if APR has these belts specifically made for them and if they are any better quality then the ones you can get off the shelf , probably wishful thinking. But here is what i have seen , APR sells a ton of their STG 2 pulley kits and they all come with these Bando belts. I very rarely if ever see someone with a APR kit complain that their belt failed. Now in the US Bando is about the only outfit that sells 7 rib belts that are within the range we would typically use (1300-1370). So my theory is that a poor fitting belt is more then likely the real reason why these belts are failing vs there being a issue with the belt. The shop I use sells a ton of them and told me they never see premature failure of the properly fitted Bando belts on the APR kits. They are actually on sale @ GOAPR too....

FWIW, I am still running a 7pk1300 Bando on my 187/57 dp setup. It's tight, but working with no indications of wear at about 15 months now. I eventually got a Gates and carry it in the trunk with a serpentine belt tool (everyone should probably do this, anyway).

I just wanted to test the Bando for a while given the bad rap it was getting from some here. If they had a problem in the past, they seem to have fixed it. No complaints, no indication of wear, so it stays on for now.

Thanks guys, maybe I will order one and see how it works. I really like the Gates RPM belts, I tried to get the 1310 on there but there was just no way. Even if it did go on it would have been waaay tight.

The continental 6pk1315 fit just fine, tight, but not hard to slip on. I just would prefer the 7 rib to have more area to grip on.

Hey All, I was just reading through the comments about the belts. I currently have the Gates 1310 on my A6 with a 196/57 combo. It is indeed difficult to get on and I will tell you, I am still experiencing some belt slip. I had started to suspect my Tensioner so I bought the new ECS Supercharger Belt Tensioner. It gives 75% more pressure and releases the belt further for putting it on. The tensioner on ECS Here

I am thinking the stretch in the higher RPMs is what makes it slip. It doesn't necessarily squeal, but my boost peaks at 6900 and dips slightly until the shift at 7200. The sound of the supercharger changes significantly at the top end of the gear too, it changes from a whine to a super high pitched scream.

I bought a more loose belt too, got the APR 1320 to try out with the tensioner and maybe I won't struggle so much with the belt anymore. I'll keep the 1310 on first and see how it goes.

I certainly felt the same way. My shop was able to source it for me for 311 bucks with his discount. But it will be worth it if I can get over that peak at 6900. My Boost never goes past 21 PSI. Keep in mind I am also in Denver.

I understand, I don't have any problem building or holding boost up to 7400, I just feel like it slips for a short period right when it shifts, but then it is fine again.

So what I thought was belt slip above was actually the traction control intervening. Finally did some logging with the HPTuners software and could see the map switching between the 1-2 shift and sometimes even 2-3. This was reflected in the acceleration data from dragy as well, you could see the huge dip right when it shifted. Even with the ESC off, there is no way to completely turn off the system on the SQ5/Q5.

Finally got a chance to do a couple of 1/4 mile runs (on a closed course...) this morning and the first try seemed to get the tires hot enough that the second was my best yet with none of that long shifting or intervention. DA was about the same as my previous run.

Swapping from the 183 to the 194 got me a tenth and 1 MPH. Keep in mind this is all full weight, about a 3rd of a tank, plus lunch. Need to get to the track ASAP so I can have the full weight record, on the spreadsheet looks like 11.34 is the fastest right now. Take a couple hundred lbs out and this could have been a 10.9x. 3.2x 0 to 60 is there too. Very tempting to try.SmartSelect_20210123-072911_dragy.jpgSmartSelect_20210123-065225_dragy.jpgSmartSelect_20210123-065159_dragy.jpg

That's Awesome very impressive times , hopefully next season you and I can add some great times to the list. What track will you be going to ? As far pulling weight out and putting up a 10.9 on the Dragy you absolutely have to and I'm slightly disappointed you have to think twice about this LOL !! Even if its "Just a dragy" result its still a huge accomplishment.

Edit to add : You can monitor the wheel speed sensors too and this will give you a much more detailed look at where you are losing traction. Probably up front but its still cool data to have.
