Rear-facing car seat or infant carrier - is it possible?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm curious if anyone has successfully fit a rear-facing car seat or infant carrier behind the passenger seat, and still had room for an adult passenger in the front. My wife and I will be expecting at some point in the future, and I'm trying to decide if it's practical for me to keep the RS4 as my main car, lease an electric car and keep the RS4 as a weekend car (still need to have a car seat in it), or if I need to sell the RS4 altogether and get something bigger.

    Thoughts or experience welcome!

I have the Diono Rainier rear-facing (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ISS2S6A/...ing=UTF8&psc=1). I have to put the passenger seat all the way forward and the back cushion forward. This is pretty much the biggest car seat you can get though, so I wasn't expecting much room in the front seat. I'm sure you could find smaller rear-facing seats that allows for room in the front.

Yes you can fit it. I'll look for some pics and post em up. The rear facing fits the best "between" the 2 front seats. However, if you want to, you can put behind the front passenger seat as well. I sometimes fit both my 2 year old and my infant in the backseat of the RS. Good luck! Just don't buy one of those big clunky seats. Even the Recaro one is tough to fit.

I have the Diono mentioned above as well. I can fit it in the middle or behind the passenger seat in my B6. You can get an angle adjuster for it that is a piece of foam that goes underneath the base to give you more room (saves the seats too) front to back but it takes up more head room. The other benefits of that seat are that you can fit them 3 across in most back seats, it goes up to at least 120lbs., and you can have the rear facing up to I think at least 60lbs.

I have a B5 S4 but I'm shopping for a B7 or a C6. I've been carrying around the two car seats we have and using that as part of the tire kicking process. Anything seems bigger than the b5 at this point.

Great, thanks for the info guys (and pics). Looks like it's doable, but I should try to research a seat on the smaller side if possible.

Is there any preference for a car seat over an infant carrier than clicks in to a base?

Peg Perego works well for both rear-facing (primo verrigo sip) and forward-facing setups in the B7 RS4. Hooking in the forward facing setup strap under the rear headrest is a pain in the ass.

I put the graco in the middle. It touches the seats but not so much that you have to move them too far forward. It's a bit more of a hassle since you have to thread the belt through the base. LATCH system can only be used if it's on either side, not the middle.

Quinning already? He hasn't even coached a game yet!

In all seriousness you guys got a GREAT Defensive coordinator and I'm sure he will be a great head coach as well. So sad to see him gone from the Seahawks.
