Angry Cluster Recoding/Swap from Auto to Manual

Alright guys, so I think I know what the issue is. I'm just not 100% sure how to fix it. A little after I got my car (2001 1.8TQM - AWM), I &$&%# up my cluster while replacing the screen and had to get a new one. After getting a new cluster I no longer get a check engine light when I have faults. The cluster is from a facelift A4 with an automatic transmission. When scanning the ECU I get the following fault.

18058 - Powertrain Data Bus: Missing Message from Instrument Cluster
    P1650 - 35-00

So from what I can piece together from other threads, the issue is with the fact my car is a manual and the cluster is from an automatic? maybe..?

I checked my coding of the cluster which appears to be correct, I'm not sure where else to look or what to change to get it talking again. Let me know if any more information is needed to get this solved!

    Current cluster info:
Coding - 02262 <----- I understand how this is structured - Little unsure if the last digit should be a 2 or a 4
Workshop code - 02503 <----- No clue what this is..

    Current engine info:
    Coding - 16201
    Wokshop code - 63351

//I'm new to VCDS, as I just got it tonight. But I'm starting to see more about measuring blocks and I may have some numbers wrong in there for the cluster?
//Again more questions as I find more threads.. So my adaption value may be incorrect, I need to go out and pull it and see what its at now. But once I get that I need to know what to be comparing it to? The only thing I can find for the B5 is an S4 chart, nothing for the A4. Here is what I am talking about.

Your cluster code appears to be for a V6. I think you need to change the second to last digit from 6 to 4. This is so that the cluster can interpret the tach signal correctly. Last digit should be a 4. There were NA 4cylinder engine options offered in Europe. I think the cluster should be 02244. http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...Cluster#Coding

The cluster code is not likely the cause of your DTC code. Try going to ADAPTATION under (17) INSTRUMENTS and select Channel 60. The value should be "1025".

Your awesome. Thanks a bunch. The value in channel 60 was set to 0 instead of 1025, and I had looked at that previously, but I guess the whole immobilizer thing sort of confuses me. So our cars are still technically Immo III even though we don't actually have an immobilizer?

    Thank you again!

//Yup I updated the code to 02244 and my tach now sits higher at idle.. Around 800rpms.

While some sources reference channel 60 for immobilizer, it also allows the cluster to communicate with other control modules in the car via CAN-BUS. The ECU gets vehicle speed from the cluster. I ran into a similar issue with my V8 swap.

Kinda, it's weird. I'm pretty sure the actual immo code was removed enough to disable it, but there are still some references to it left it that were probably needed to keep the cluster happy.

Did you actually get the code to go away?

Gotcha well thanks for your guys help. I have an old message from you about resetting mileage on a cluster. Mine is currently sitting at 198K.. I May be messaging you here soon about that if you don't mind.

Yes. Once I changed the adaption value in "60" from 0 to 1025. My CEL light immediately illuminated (Due to my SAI incorrect flow). I cleared my faults after that and the "cluster message" fault is no longer there.
