3.2 TL TYPE-S is slow!

I have an 2.8 tiptronic with cai and I raced an 3.2 tl type-s and I beat it 0-100km/h. I thought these cars were supposed to be fast. 260hp vs 190hp. However, he was starting to gain very fast and would have taken me on the 1/4 mile. Im just happy right now and had to share it with you guys.

I don't know, I raced a newer CL type S and I had him from a stop up to 60. Spoke to him at the next intersection and he said he was on it. I don't know what the difference in engines if anything at all is between a CL and a TL though...

my friend has a 3.2 cl type s. Its pretty quick. I doubt a 2.8 took it. My sisters 2005 v6 accord is damn fast too. I think the 6 speed is 1/4 in the 14's stock.

some people just dont understand that its not always about peak power... its really powerband and delivery that matters.. Its not impossible for an A4 to win a race, LET THE FLAMES FLY.. cuz i always defend people.. =( lol

ive been in a 3.2l, and it was fast. stock it squeked wheels even in third(same as my uncles z28 camaro). that car is quick man, but nice if you had him.

my old car before the 1.8T was a 94 acura legend coupe, with the 230 horse type II 3.2liter v6. and it would of smoked my stock 1.8T and easily the 2.8 too. and thats a 94 so i doubt it could happen with the TL.

but hey maybe he had a blown head gasket, running on 3 cylinders, and faulty tranny........well you get the point.

not bashing the a4 as i love my car but facts are facts

This girl I work with has a a TL Type-S. It's quick, but she has a lot of transmission problems with it. She'd had a few transmissions put in under warranty. When she gets on it it will start to speed up then start slipping. So maybe the guy has the same problem.

how do you know i like japanese 4 bangers? I mean, this is an audi forum. i don't hate the GM 3.8 V6. It's one of the most solid engines I've seen from detroit. I've seen many of them in the olds delta 88s that have gone 250k+ and had the piss ragged out of them from day one. Now when you compare the 3.8 to the honda dohc v6 you'll get a mouthfull. Just be thankful you didn't pay for the 3.8l factory supercharged putting out a meek 240bhp a la pontiac grand prix gtp.

They are fast enough to beat any basically stock non-S4 B5 and they typically trap 94-95mph and will trap near 100mph with just headers.

GM's Series II L67 and Series III motors have potential. A simple 3.4" pulley, Intake, 180 stat, and a DHP PCM will put a GTP into high 13's/low 14's for under $1,000. You could bring it down to a 3.25" pulley and headers to run low 13's. It's a corked motor from the factory.

Ok guys, the floor was a little bit wet, he had an awful start and he had a lot of wheelspin. From the take off i had him about 1.5 car lenght but he started to catch up very fast and was maybe 1/2 car till 100km. I couldn't tell if he had an real type-s because his 5 spoke mags weren't on the car, maybe just another poseur. An regular tl would make more sense. However, i had an encounter with a nissan maxima 255hp, 5-speed manual and i took him excatly the same way as the tl. I am shocked as we speak, but i am defenitely not trying to promote my car and yes the guy was pushing it. The owner of the car is one of my friends.

Those cars are all auto's ..
Doesnt take much of a 'good driver' .. just mash the gas and try not to spin the front wheels too much

They are not all auto's, the 3.2 TL type S comes in a 6 speed.

i drove the 3.2 tl-s that thing is damn fast ... is nearly as fast as the newer TL .. they both are quick ... Well hes def right about the 1/4 mile part and it would rip him a new !$$%^&* ... but maybe the a4 beat it in the long run ? idk what else 2 say. They are damn quick tho even the tip i drove both TL-S and the newer TL both tip... very nice powerband. congrats on the kill..

this raises an eyebrow to the 1.8t'ers ... can a chipped 1.8t beat that ? ... id like 2 find out ... as soon as i chip my car its also coming with a Milltek exhaust with a high flow milltek cat... my frend wants 2 race me he hasa perfect stretch by his house. He has the 2005 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SL ... (theyre compared to the TL) We'll See what happens

only the 05/06 New body style TL's come with a 6spd manual, the older body shaped were all autos.
