Humming noise from front of the car

    hi there,

my b7 s4 is having some noise related issues. It is most prevalent on the highway when i'm doing around 45+. Slight humming noise almost as if theres some sort of rubbing. Isolated the problem to the front. Could this be my wheel bearings? It doesn't occur when I turn just mostly at high speeds. Any suggestions would be great.

The wheel bearing is the first part I would suspect. Pretty easy to replace, just make sure they're torqued to spec.
Also, check the condition of your tires (including pressure) and rims (make sure there are no bends).

My guess would be wheel bearings. So when you're going straight you hear the humming, and then when you turn slightly you don't hear it?

If the hum increases in noise with an increase in speed, it's a very good chance it's the wheel bearings. It could be the axles/cv. How many miles are on them/car? If it's a manual, when was the fluid changed last? If it's a tip, has the front diff ever been serviced? Are the belly pans secured? What brand tires are you running-how much tread is left?

I have a hum from the front end of my B6. It's the control arms on my car.

Could be a gnome in your engine bay. I've heard they like to hum when they get bored

    Could be a cupped tire.

car has 36,000 miles and its running michelin A/S super sports on OEM wheels for winter setup
its 6 mt & Fluid was done before I bought in November of last year I believe.
Humming noise is present at speeds starting from 30 mph onwards and its most occurant on windy roads
Its not that loud, had to listen pretty carefully to even recognize it
