    Q5 Sport Package (WQB)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Can I get some thoughts from folks about the Sport Package for the Q5? If you ordered it or purchased a 2015 Q5 that has it are you happy with it? I am looking at what's included and it seems like a nice add on for $750 MSRP. We keep our vehicles awhile so it's really a matter of personal preference not cost at this price and I was just wondering what others thought. I will go look at one that has it sometime this week. Comparing the Order Guide from 2015 to the one for 2016, I don't see any changes. If you have it, did you get any of the seat color packages that are unique options available when the Sport Package is ordered? Black / Alabaster White (UA), Black / Cloud Gray (UH) or Black Cognac (QX)? The three seat color combinations that can only be ordered with the Sport Package come with Piano Black inlays as well. Not sure if I would like that either.

Is Audi Drive Select something you use / prefer having?

Thanks Dave! Anyone else? Leaning towards doing the Sport Package since we are going to order this Q5. 3 Spoke Steering Wheel w Shift Paddles, Black Cloth Headliner, Front Sport Seats w/ 4 way power lumbar and Audi Drive Select sounds like an easy choice for $750 msrp /$697 invoice.

I didn't care for the steering "feel" or lack thereof when I went on the test drive so I am hoping that ADS will help compensate for that shortcoming. I've read a couple threads about complaints regarding the steering feel on the Q5 and ADS was mentioned as a way to compensate for lack of feel that I am accustomed to w hydraulic steering.

The package is a no-brainer in my opinion - run with it and enjoy. The paddles alone pay for the package. The black headliner is awesome as well. I'm not huge on the sport seats (the extenders seem quite flimsy and not very comfortable) but they're perfectly fine.

ADS is neat, although I've pretty much been a set-it-and-forget-it type of user. (Individual: Dynamic for steering and engine/trans and Comfort for suspension). It's fun and useable. That said - unless the steering was set to 'comfort' for your test drive, I doubt you'll see an improvement in feel. To varying degrees, that's been a common complaint for many of us.

Seating color is really personal, so hopefully you can see examples in-the-flesh. I do LOVE the piano black trim inlays, and I think the finish adds an element of class. The aluminum stuff is nice, but to my eyes it occasionally looks a bit boy-racer. I do prefer it to the stodgier (that'd be the technical term) wood veneers, but for me...I really wish I could've had piano black.

Good luck with the order. FWIW I really love my Q5 and if I was in the market now the only other vehicle I'd consider is an SQ5 in the same exterior/interior color.

Hey thanks for the input guys. Sirmium, are you saying you can't get the Sport Package which automatically includes the black headliner without ordering one of the two tone sport seat options? Looking at the 2016 Order Guide it looks like I can order the black seats (Code FZ) and still get the sport package which includes the black headliner. Thx!

x2, its a no brainer. Look how pretty it is

Note- the aluminum pedal set is aftermarket ($55 via Amazon) as well I have the black headliner.

I have no complaints about the steering, but others have done a simple VagCom mod(disable steering recommendation) and that cleans it up a bit. theres a thread on it here.

I know, the SQ5 is beautiful. I didn't drive it because I know I would wish we were buying it. Honestly tho, for the knocking around suburbia we do w the kids, the Q5 2.0T will be a nice upgrade from our almost 16 year old A4.

    Too true.
There is a warning posted on all Q5 forums:
"Do not test drive the SQ5 unless you are prepared to buy it."
    ...'cause you will.
This was more than I had budgeted by about $10K, so I rewrote the budget.

3.0T is tempting. I still have the B5 2000 2.8L Quattro 5 Speed in the garage. Having a hard time giving up the manual transmission! Driving in bad weather especially snow becomes fun w/ Quattro, a manual tranny and a fresh set of all season skins.

no, i'm just saying that if you order brown(chestnut brown) seats you will get black headliner with or without sport package

Got ya. I actually saw one just like that at the dealer the other day (chestnut brown seats / black headliner). Like the black headliner and other Sport Package elements that would be included on a 2.0T so it's a go. The two tone seats are a little more busy than what we are looking for so I think it's going to be all black on the interior w the Ash Brown inserts. Thx for clarifying.

Thanks to all who posted / commented regarding the Q5 sport package option. We ended up ordering a 2016 Q5 with the sport package, moonlight blue w black interior. Put a deposit down after negotiating a great deal this weekend. After seeing it in person, it was definitely worth the price especially when you consider how long we keep our vehicles.

I recently test-drove an SQ5. it was ridiculous, and more than intoxicating enough for me to have them run numbers, even though I knew it was far from realistic. I thanked them for their time and drove home with the girl that brought me, but I thought about it.
