    Camshaft Position Sensor Wiring Diagram

    Hi all,

Hate to be a noob, but I managed to break one of these damned clips while fiddling with the camshaft position sensor wiring harness. Normally I wouldn't care, but due to the location and vertical mounting of the CPS sensor connector housing, I have a more than sneaking suspicion that it's going to vibrate itself loose at some point.

So, I'll take the plunge and buy the $8 connector housing (ouch! $8 for some plastic?)....I even fashioned myself a pin release tool out of a pair of micro-tweezers that I filed down. So I can extract and re-insert those pins with no issue.

Now, here is the real problem and the question I have:

Could anyone with a (preferably 2007) B7 A4 run out, pop the engine cover, and take me a nice hi-res shot of the back of the camshaft position sensor wiring harness (where the wires are numbered #1, #2, and #3)?

When I was fiddling with pins I pulled all three and lost track of which went where.

It was late. I was frustrated. It happens.

I'm pretty sure it was red, green, brown with green being in the middle. I just cant recall if red was pin #1 or #3? I'm afraid to start the damned car without knowing 100% that I've got the wiring right.

    Thanks all in advance !!

Thank you very much!! Exactly what I was looking for!!

For future reference, if anyone breaks that connector housing and is looking for the VAG part no (used lots of places where a 3 pin is needed) it is:

    1J0 973 703

Now...anyone have a trick for getting that T-30 off? No screwdriver or ratchet fits down in there...I've been getting those dreaded Camshaft A Position Over-Advanced DTCs and I'd like to replace the camshaft position sensor as well as the N205 valve (Hydraulic Camshaft Adjuster Valve).

I'm not sure if it's either of those, carbon build-up on the intake valves (137k miles), or that funky timing wheel and chain thingamajigger that would require ripping a ton of crap apart and costing me an arm and a leg! Ugh...

or tape the shank into the closed end of a box wrench 6.5mm should do.
