Does the 2103-14 S4 have Google maps?

    Hey guys,

I'm considering purchasing a 2013/14 S4, and am just trying to get to know about the car a bit more.

I drive around a lot, and rely on GPS. I currently have a 2015 Mazda 6, and the GPS is atrocious. The whole infotainment system is actually pretty bad.

I saw somewhere that the 2013+ Audi S4s have Google maps? Is this true?

    Anyone input would be appreciated.

    Thanks :)

Yes - Google Earth maps/overlay, but you need Internet or you can only do the standard map.

No, they don't. In countries where Audi Connect is available (Canada is not one of them), they have Google Earth Satellite image overlays, not Google maps. The map data is still stored on the MMI's harddisk, thus if a road is not part of the map data, the satellite overlay won't change that. You'll see a road on the satellite image where the MMI thinks there is none.

S4 vs. Mercedes C63 AMG - Your thoughts?

    Hey guys,

I'm in the process of getting rid of my Mazda 6, and getting a car I actually will enjoy.

I test drove a 2014 S4 the other day, and liked it.

Then I tested a 2012 Mercedes C63 AMG, and LOVED it!

Only issue I have, is that I am in Toronto, and we get a lot of snow in the winter. The Merc is a RWD, and I worry how that will handle snow. I hear great things about the S4's AWD. I also have a newborn, and I would like to be able to take him in the car, so safety is important.

Wondering what you guys thought about these 2 choices?

Sorry, but (in my uneducated opinion) you really have no choice given the statement in bold. Get the S4, and get some good winter tires.

Safety first, especially with a family. Unless you are quite comfortable driving in the C63 in winter with snows....

There will be slightly more room for the rear facing baby seat in the S4 than the MB.

    +1 S4 with snow tires.

If climate was no concern, C63 all the way. I used to drive my friends regularly. It's a fantastic car. I suspect traction will be tough but with Hekka's or Blizzaks I bet you'd do ok (Ok as in not great). You will not however match the capability of the S4 with the same tires. AWD + snow tires FTW. If it were me, I'd get the C63 and set it up for winter when the time comes. The C63 is WAY more car. It has limitations, particularly given your unfortunate location but if you think you can make it work, get it!

Agreed. If we didn't have winter to worry about here, I would probably have the C63 AMG 507 Edition in my driveway right now!

Had a stage 2 E55 - even with winter tires, that torque is a beast to manage going to the rear wheels. Before the S4, I had a 335i Cobb tuned. I would switch to stock tune in the winter.

Even in dry conditions, the higher torque RWD cars in the winter do not like full throttle applications. The s4 is a joy in the winter, as you can really use it's power year round, and with winter tires you can really go anywhere in any condition. I feel safer in this car with the kids vs. an SUV on A/S tires.

I'd get the C63 if you can also also get an AWD car for the winter. Otherwise, S4 is a great year round option.

Was in the same boat and ended up with a truck before it bored me out of my mind.lol AMGs (and M's) are a ton of fun but they hate snow/ice. Even with full on snow tires, the traction control system just doesn't know what to do. Take it off and all you do is donuts. Leave traction control on and you can put the pedal to the floor but you won't go anywhere. Mercs new AMGs are finally starting to come with AWD which will make the decision tougher down the road but for now they're not in the same league as the S4 (S4 MUCH cheaper). In short, get the S4 and throw someone's stage II on there and enjoy the peace of mind having a car you can safely drive year round with the family.
