First a little background - I got into the Audi scene when I bought a 2004 Audi A6 2.7T back in 2010 with 60k miles. A year or so after I bought it my torque converter bit the dust and I decided to fix it myself. Thats when the mod bug hit me haha. First it was an upgraded TC from Vast and lots of other maintenance, then within a few weeks of getting the car back together my k03s went. Pulled it back apart and did a stock block GT2560 build over the course of a couple months. I was pretty happy with that for about a year until the transmission gave out on me, which didn't come as a huge surprise... I ordered a 6 speed swap kit from Scotty/Advanced Automation, and took the car apart yet again. I did the 6 speed swap but after I got it back together I was having some boost issues - turns out I somehow cracked the back side of the passenger side compressor housing and on top of that a couple cylinders had significantly lower compression than the rest. So it came back apart again and I rebuilt the motor with rods, stock pistons with new rings, 2.8L heads, SRM RS6/K24s, and made the switch to E85. Shortly after I put in a new clutch and did some back-to-back stock vs tubular exhaust manifold testing and have been enjoying the car since!
After getting into Audis I really began to like Avants - especially the Allroad, so I jumped on it when I saw one pop up locally last fall with a busted trans (for cheap). It barely moved but it had just enough life in it for me to get it back home. I had planned to swap over everything from my A6 before winter, but I ended up buying a townhouse and that has kept me quite busy for the last several months... Now that I've finished up most of the projects around the new place and it's getting warmer, it's time to get working on the Allroad finally!
On to the pictures! Here it is when I got it home, next to my A6.

The snow hadn't completely melted yet but I was eager to get going!

The coolant in it was pretty nasty looking...

The fan looked like a ticking time bomb so I gave it a new home.

Old engine coming out!

Next step is for me to take apart the A6, hopefully I'll have time to get to that in the next couple weeks. After that I'll be making a couple little changes and here's what will be going back into the Allroad!

I'll be sure to take lots of pictures and update this as I make more progress! It'll probably be slow going with usually only one afternoon a week to work on it, but there's no rush since I've got another car to daily (even if it is a pos that gets 8 mpg on a good day). I'm actually excited to take my time with this, since before I've always had some deadline to get my car back together which has added a lot of stress to what would've otherwise been an enjoyable project.
