    A4 B8 Slow Acceleration

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So for some reason my car seems to accelerate slow from a stop and from a rolling start.

Does anyone know what it can be?

It's only in Drive. The car is fine in manual or sport.

    Thanks

I've noticed this with my wife's '12 Avant A4 Quattro S 8spd that we recently picked up. First 0-10mph, car doesn't lurch when you need it to while getting out in traffic from side streets etc. After that initial hesitation, it's off to the races. Worth having Audi look at it or is this oem throttle body/ignition delay? If it is, will APR Stg 1 v2.0 completely remedy issue, or just a bit? I wouldn't mind some more kick when I'm driving it around town (used to E92 M ESS-625 :), but she doesn't care... single desire is to remedy the initial acceleration.

not trying to sound like a wise guy but that honestly just sounds like turbo lag. Turbo cars don't lurch off the line unless you're dumping the clutch or brake boosting. APR stage 1 will wake the car up but honestly it's not going to make much of a difference for the 0-10 mph start you speak of. It will make the car pull much harder once you get going

Sounds normal for D mode, just drive in S instead.

Not wise guy at all, it is perhaps the obvious (t lag) I was hoping would not be the case. I've had 5spd B5/B6's in the past, would always compensate in quick traffic situations with aggressive clutch. It's just that the initial lag seems like the 2.0 block is a 1.5 for that initial jump, including S mode. I'll try terminal reset, can't hurt. If the throttle is feathered a bit at start, it feels like it registers a quicker start versus full pedal. Made me think it was ignition delay/throttle setting so not to overburden auto trans. APR brake boost enable may be the excuse wife needs to chip it.

I just started to notice the lag a few weeks ago. Though I had a misfire and it wouldn't accelerate over 2k rpm without shaking and after the coil packs were replaced it didn't happen anymore. Though the car really doesn't feel like how it used to accelerate.

Not compared to the Subaru impreza I came from!

I'm going to ride out my CPO then get a stage I tune and see what all the hype is about.

It's a turbo lag. Normal thing. Get new pipes / box delete / tune etc. and you notice lag is gone.

Yup out of the gate from 0 to 25 it stalls or maybe it is the turbo lag. Once it hits about 25 mph it's fine with acceleration. Might also be from the programming if you don't drive fast all the time, won't memorize that. It's a problem for me because I sometimes go easy at first to save gas. So at times when I want to go fast from 0 - 25 it gets annoying. Once my extended warranty is expired, i'll do all those mods to kill the lag.
