    ev14 adapter fitment ?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Is there any clearance issues with trying to plug the injector wiring onto the adapters for the ev14 style injectors? For some reason in the back of my head I thought I read that there was an issue with the fit.... I am asking about the type the are the all in one molded adapter, no wires in between connections.

Are there any issues making sure that injectors are parallel with the intake (for proper spray pattern) and getting the all in one adapters to fit? Some must have done this..... is been 24 hrs :D

I put the Ev14s on my 2.7t 20th the clip on adapters and iirc they aren't parallel because the harness contacts the fuel rail but they are close and wow after tuning my fuel trims to suit the new injectors I'm happy and she's smooth

Do all of them hit the fuel rail or just the a few? The reason I ask is that I was thinking of getting a few of the adapters with wires between the two ends on any that have a fitment issue.

    Thanks.

what specific ev14 injectors are these? E.g. factory unmolested or modified?

Sorry, They are bosch ev14 550cc the ones used in the gt500 0280158117.

I do plan on grinding down the mounting bosses for the fuel rail to get the orings to seat properly, just don't have the parts in hand yet and trying to anticipate any needs I might have to minimize down time.

The connectors do need to be pointed a certain way. This is because the spray pattern is offset. Maybe someone has a pic handy, but I think the connectors face the firewall on driver's side and passenger side faces the radiator... Double check that!

    Yes and no.

Factory Ev14 injectors "117" and "298" are offset in a way that their connectors on each respective head should face cams/valve covers. So passenger side (which is right) faces passenger outer edge of engine, driver side faces driver side outside of engine.

The way you described clocking of injectors is specific to original RS4 injectors and no others.

Julex, I understand what you are saying, so basically 90 degrees from where they are stock, with the connectors on the outside of the fuel rail. So will there be any interference to get them to orientate correctly with the all in one adapters, I have not been able to find a picture of them installed/ thread on their installation.

    Thanks

Last two injectors need wire adapters, they are shorter. You might find thread on B5 S4 forum on this, me contributing to it the most. You'd have to access bosch specifications for 0 280 158 117 and 0 280 158 298 injectors to figure out their proper installation orientation.

Having said that, most of peple have no clue and have them clocked randomly and they still work fine.

The worst you can do with these though is to align the connectors with rails, literally the worst, since their split cone will now literally spray across the narrow portion of runner and into the middle valve only...

Well, I figured I'd update in case anyone else comes across this thread.

Here is the factory alignment of the injectors...

I ordered "factory sized" orings because of other threads I read that the orings on the ev14 were smaller...

I put the "factory" sized ones on, you will notice the top oring on the injector originally is the same size as the "factory".

    Now the new install:

I also measured the two injectors side by side and they seemed to be the same length.

However, after installing them, there definitely were not seating fully. So I marked and cut down the mounts 1/8"

Upon installing the rails this time, they seated fully but I could tell the orings were a VERY snug fit. I took them out and measured the barrel that the oring goes around and it was .8mm larger than the stock barrel, this is why I believe the smaller orings are supplied on the injectors. I would say the the orings the come on the injectors are the proper size if you cut down the fuel rail boss by 1/8".

As for allignment according to the bosh specs the connectors should be facing as shown in the picture below to hit the intake valves properly.

Thanks, that is quite the complement coming from someone whose posts I respect as knowledgeable in our car community.

Most of my posts I try to be through in my descriptions so that others in the future can lean from them. (Gee it wouldn't be a coincidence that is my day job.... )

    Again, thanks for your help.

No thank you, I might reference your post in the future since this subject comes up repeatedly.

I'll be adjusting mine to suit the pic above. I too bought the factory o rings but didn't cut the boss for the fuel rail. Mine don't leak maybe because the bigger ring suits the taper not 100% in the hole... wonder If I should go ahead and cut the manifold. I'll probably just wait until I've got an issue and go from there. Thanks for the pics and information

stock orings with stock mani are fine, They are probably wedged hard enough in the hole to not create issues. Having said that, back when I had stock rails, I cut the bosses as well.

Alright, another update. I Highly recommend the Racetronix adapters!! The are top notch, I might order them for the other 4, make installation much easier. To get the "on the injector" adapters to fit I had to cut a bit of the flange that was on the valve cover gaskets so the wire harness would click into place. As you can see in the pic the shiny spots are where material was removed with small dremel type disk and the rear is the Racetronix.

Nice job. I have been schooled. Damn learning how to tune my ecu to suit them was hard enough. I had no idea they were so critical in the way they are clocked. Makes me wonder if being set in the injector boss so high might affect the spray pattern as well?
