2011 A6 DIS went blank? HELP!

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was pulling out of a parking lot and all of a sudden my DIS (driver information screen) in the dash went blank, and also I get an intermittent ding. I let it sit over night in hopes of it resetting somehow, but had no luck. It has been blank for the last 3 days with no hopes of the screen coming back to life. The ding is still intermittent and I have no idea what it is trying to tell me because I can't see that DIS screen.

I took it to the dealership to see if they could diagnose it or tell me if it was throwing a code, but no luck. Had to schedule an appt so they can look into it further. The service advisor said he hasn't seen this issue with a 2011 model before.

If they have to replace it, sounds like it will be pricey and my warranty expired about 8mo ago... No mods have been done to the vehicle.

Has anyone else had this happen? Any tips will be greatly appreciated!

You are the first person I have read about with the DIS going our completely like that. Sorry to hear but keep up posted with the progress.

Thanks for the reply SinCityA6... I am really hoping that a fuse blew or a plug came loose rather than having to replace the entire thing. My appointment isn't until next week and I will update this thread when I find out more details. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Why wait for an apt to check fuses? This is pretty darn easy to check and if you don't feel comfortable visually checking them, get a fuse checker at any O'Reilly's and you'll be able to do it in a couple of minutes.

Planning on checking this evening or tomorrow, haven't had time to do so yet. Still new to Audi, so I am a bit hesitant doing a few things but checking fuses shouldn't be a problem. Didn't think about a fuse being blown until this morning.

Try hitting the "reset" button under the wiper stalk.
I remember in the C5's you could turn off the DIS that way. Not sure if it's the same with C6/C6.5's. I haven't personally tried it on mine.

Don't think you can turn it off that way. I wish their was a way to turn it off though, anyone know of it?

Reset button on wiper stalk on C6/C6.5 does not turn DIS on or off. Doesn't work for me in this case. Thanks though!

Fuses were fine. I checked anything that could be remotely related to the DIS in one way or another. Still getting the intermittent ding also. Got my appt set for Monday for Audi to look into it further... I can't find anything online for this issue on C6/6.5 models.

Such a minor issue but annoyed that I have an intermittent ding and cannot see what it is. Probably telling me that my DIS screen is broken lol. Mostly frustrated because I did nothing to cause it to happen and it just crapped out on its own.

Also not happy my warranty expired about 6 mo ago and fearful for the worst case scenario.

Okay...this morning i started the car up and my DIS was working again, no intermittent ding... WTF? haha i couldnt believe it... going to continue to monitor it and if it is good through the weekend, i am considering cancelling my appt now... Thoughts? Maybe pulling fuses and putting them back was the trick, maybe one was loose or something.. ?

Final update: Had no other issues the rest of the weekend after I pulled a few fuses to check them and replaced accordingly (not new fuses) which didn't fix it immediately, but Friday morning the DIS fired up just fine. Same thru the rest of the weekend, so I cancelled my appt at Audi to evaluate further. The issue fixed itself after a week, the best outcome!

Thanks to all of those who replied!
