    Tire pressure monitoring system malfunction

I got a 2009 a4 and bought new wheels today anytime I get above 60 my car is shaking pretty bad and the tpms malfunction light comes on right when I turn on my car. I don't know if the vibrating caused a sensor or something to go wrong. I'm going to get my tires rotated asap and see if that helps

i'm not sure rotating the tires would help the vibration, the vibration is most likely caused by either a bad control arm or a bent wheel. you can also get them balanced if they aren't already, but it's most likely one of those 3 things. the 09 A4 is known to have problems with the original front lower curved control arms, the bushings get weak over time and vibrate, you have to get them updated to the newer style ones, if that's what the issue is. but i'd start with the balancing maybe, and if you've got 19" wheels or bigger it may be bent from a pothole or something.

I doubt the rims are bent since they're rotiforms they're pretty strong. I meant to say balanced. And if the control arm is bad wouldn't I have noticed on my old wheels?

On your new wheels where the TPMS sensors able to be moved to them, the 09 uses in wheel sensors vs a hub speed sensor? Also are the new wheels the correct 66.6 centerbore?

No I didn't move any sensors I guess that's my problem. And I'm not sure what the centerbore is. The guy I bought them from had them on a b8 s4 so idk if that helps.

Also forgot to add, make sure the proper wheel bolts are used, stock wheels have ball seats and many aftermarket are cone seat.

As stated above: centerbore ( may need hub rings), lug bolts, then recheck balance. Aftermarket wheels sometimes like to throw sticky weights. Not uncommon at all.

Is that the part number for the sensors? And I looked at my stock wheels today I didn't see anything to take off of them and move to my new wheels. Do you know of a way to just disable the system? And yeah I'm going to my shop next week and getting springs so I was gonna have them balance and align my wheels too and look at the control arm bushings to make sure they're in good shape

    Try these

I purchased these exact sensors for my summer wheel/tire setup. You will need to have your wheel/tires broken down, sensors installed, put back together and balanced again. Then you need to reset your TPMS in the MMI display under car-setup.

I looked everywhere in vcds latest version......could not figure out a way to disable it. Google it and came up with nothing.

I think you should read this and figure out if your model uses these tpms sensors. Take a look here....you MAY have a different model

My engine code is caeb and uses the part provided. I think there are 4 newer b8 engine codes after mine in which stage 1 oil has already been done and hpfp upgraded and i believe 2 of them DONT use the part referenced in my previous post. That should get u in the right direction. Make sure before you order the wrong things and have to do shit twice

Wait are you asking if my tires use the valve stem sensor or the sensors are mounted on the brakes or whatever? They definitely are valve stem sensors

    Tire pressure monitoring system malfunction

I'm a fairly new 09 b8 3.2 owner. And to my knowledge the car uses the ABS sensor to monitor the tire pressure not the individual sensors. Since it doesn't mention which wheel is low.

Although I could be wrong and confusing it with my B7 Passat.

This is incorrect, '09s have actual pressure sensors in the wheels, they switched to using ABS sensors for '10.

Edit: This is true for 2.0T cars at least, I suppose there's a possibility the 3.2 has different sensors.
