Here's a brief history on myself since I am new to this section and haven't had a chance to meet anyone yet.
I've been a VW/Audi fanatic for many years and have owned and modified everything from Golfs to Q7's. My most recent project was a B6 S4 which was the car that got me active on this forum and is the car that I decided to part ways with to finance this project. It was a great car and I had a lot of fun showing and driving it but with two car seats now in my backseat it just wasn't getting much attention given I couldn't fit my whole family in it.
Pics of S4 shortly before it was sold.

So I sold the S4 to a good friend and focused my attention on the D3 A8L I had been using as my daily. Purchased and eLevel setup and custom built Bilstien/UAS air strut combo with every intention of starting a build on the A8L I had in hand. However once I really sat down and put all of my plans down on paper it just wasn't making much sense to invest so much money into a car that I honestly wasn't really exited about in the first place. Parts and bodywork are insanely priced on A8's as most of you know and the car I had needed a shit ton of both, plus I wanted a short wheelbase model with lower miles and the baseball glove interior. Once again my car was listed in the classifieds and the hunt for the right D3 began.
Said A8L, sold on lowering links and eBay wheels to aid in a quick sale.

Well the timing couldn't have been better and just as I was finishing up the sale of my current car a unicorn of D3's popped up on one of my daily Cars.com searches. An 07 A8 S-line, prior to finding this car I didn't even know the S-line had been an option in the states. The car was exactly what I was looking for, emaculate black paint, low miles, awesome Carfax, peanut butter interior, and all the S8 goodies that were driving up the price of modding a standard A8. I cleared my weekend and made the 500 mile trip to northern Tennessee smack dab in the middle of a blizzard. Made the trip in about 10 hours and to my delight the car was everything the seller had said it was and more. S8 bumpers, mirrors, grill, OEM LED tails, RS6?wheels, and 3 spoke wheel with paddles are some of the more notable features. Bought the car on the spot and drove home the next day, the weather had cleared up decently and made it home in just under 7 hours.
Here's a few pics of the car and of the journey. I don't get out much so driving through the mountains on the way home was a blast for me.

And back home safe and sound

Well that was a much longer intro than I had planned but if your still with me onto the beginning of the build.
Here's what I have planned for starters and just gonna see where it goes from here.
I should have mentioned that I sourced a set of my dream wheels out of France back in the fall. 20 inch OZ Futura's, specs are a little weak and wrong bolt pattern but that is being addressed as we speak.
Step one is getting the wheels refinished and redrilled. They are currently at APT9 wheels being relipped, fully polished, trued, and redrilled. The final specs will be somewhere near 20x10.5 +20 front +13 rear, polished lips and faces with black barrels. I should be getting these back anytime now!
Step two is get my trunk setup built and functional then take a long weekend off of work and try and get the bags and sensors installed in one long weekend. This is my daily so I don't have the luxury of just ripping it apart and hanging parts at my leisure.
Half of this plan is near complete, I have most of the trunk setup built, plumbed and wired. I need to make a trip to the hardware store for a few odds and ends and find a nice looking gauge to mount on my tank but aside from those little things I'm just about good to go.
Wiring everything is easy enough but routing all the wires cleanly is proving to be a little difficult, I'm betting this will be my next little holdup as even though everything will be mostly out of site, I'm really trying to keep it clean looking.
Step three is going to be source and install either an R8 or RS6 steering wheel, I'm yet to find anything I like at the right price so time will tell with this one.

And the soon to be installed struts.

That's all I have for now and I do realize this isn't much of a build at the moment but things should start getting interesting in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for looking.
