    Automatic transmission fluid filling tool

    While researching auto trans fluid changes, I've seen several alternatives to VAG 1924, the tool used to fill VAG automatic transmissions with fluid from the bottom. Here's mine. I just used it a second time for another change/dilution recently and took a couple quick pics.

    Some notes:
    - The white piping is all PVC.
    - All the parts are available at Lowe's/Home Depot/hardware stores.
    - The clear tubing is about 8 or 9 feet long.
    - Clean the hood latch loop prior to hanging the tool.
    - Add an extra prop to the hood - the hood strut may not support the tool full of ATF.

    I like this. I used a Harbor Freight fluid pump when I did changed the ATF in my B5. Was there any fluid that was wasted with this tool? (like the last little bit that couldn't get into the fill hole)

    Good question.

    Well, minimum wastage would be the amount in the clear tubing after the fluid settles at the level of the spout tip. Say, about even with the bottom of the bumper. However, in my case I got the ATF in a kit with filter, pan gasket, seals, etc. and had extra fluid. So, yeah, that's wasting on my shelf now.

    I recommend having an extended length to the fill end tube, with more curvature at the end of the bend. This will allow the fill end at the valve to hang from the inside edge of the fill hole. I like your solution, I am going to use a similar rig up next fluid change.

    Despite the minimal hook at the tip, this setup works really well. With the tip aimed toward the rear of the car, the nozzle stays in place. This is likely due to the combination of jack stand height, tubing stiffness and tubing length (slight tension towards front of car).

    That said, adding more hook would make this a better tool. I do intend to mod it someday. Thanks for the recommendations.
