Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just installed my p3cars gauge on my stock s4 , did a few runs on dry asphalt in sport mode , registered a 4.17 0-60 mph time... Car is stock bought it from audi cpo I have a picture to prove my time I don't know how to post pictures though... I'll try to post it ..

This seems crazy fast I must be the luckiest s4 owner around lol

I'm telling you, it's like 4.9s, and a stock S4 should not be able to keep up with an RS5! I'm going to pull out my OBD gauge tomorrow and check what times I get with DashCommand. If it's <4.5s I owe you a beer haha.

Most my runs were 4.43 -4.48 just once I got 4.17 and one 4.31 , revs limited to aprox 6800-7000? I'm sure it's not tuned my car has been in for service multiple times and hooked up,to audi diagnostics. I'm the second owner first owner was in his 60's , he was trading it in while I was shopping for one and timing was great, got to meet him and discuss the car

From my experience the gauge was generally within 0.1s. I'd be very surprised if it was off by 0.5s. But not as surprised as I would be that a stock S4 ran that kind of time. Those sound like stage 1 times to me.

What kind of road are you testing on? If there's a material decline that could be a factor.

If I remember correctly the slope can't exceed -1% to be a valid run.

The P3 is just reading whatever is being reported on CAN by the ABS system (which is derived from wheel count encoders through some kind of sensor fusion). Should be the same signal used by the speedometer to move the needle or whatever VCDS would log.

With that said, some OEM's make this signal pretty crappy at very low speeds, maybe less than 2kph? A pbox or vbox should give you a better 0-60 measurement.

Good question, what size of rims and tires are you running for winter? Could be throwing the calibrations off when doing it at 100Km/h. Ex You aren't actually doing 100 but only 96km/h or so.

Numerous magazines and road test reviews have achieved consistent 4.4 0-60 times out of the S4. Audi claims 4.9 in it's promotional literature which is conservative just like their horsepower figures.

I'd guess if you're truly stock that the 4.17 was just on a very slight downhill grade. That would explain the difference from the other runs.

Perhaps this is true, I don't remember being on a downhill grade but could have very well been because yes I am consistently getting 4.4's

So i just attempted my 1st launch on this car (6mt). It wasn't very good, but i got a 5.644 @ around 5800 ft elevation. I know i can do better with practice, but wondered what i should really expect at this kind of elevation?

That's pretty good for a stock car at mile high+
Keep in mind the DA recently has not been very good, very hot and humid

It was 90°+ today dude haha

Yeah, it was hot still, was around 5 pm. That makes me feel better. Lol. I've been getting on the car the whole time I've had it, but wanted to really learn the clutch before attempting some launches. It almost feels like if you do it just right, you can get ~85% effectiveness of a real launch by just jamming on the gas at the perfect moment when you let the clutch out without the gas, and the car gives it a little gas on its own.

That seems really slow, but elevation probably plays a big role. I assume there is room for improvement too if it was your first time launching the car.

In normal conditions it should run upper 4s all day.

Yeah, i know it's no record. Lol. Stock claim is 4.9 at sea level i think. I know there's some power loss at elevation. Main thing I'm trying to do right now is set some benchmarks so i know where i started. I'm off tomorrow, going to try and get some solid 0-60, maybe a 0-100, a 1/4 mi and a 1/8 mi. Just want some solid numbers to improve upon.

Seriously man I just ran some numbers and at 5pm today the DA was 9000+

Now I'm not that well versed in DA and drag racing but I think that equates to trying to launch your car at 9000ft. I think it's safe to assume you lost .5sec if not a full second as compared to perfect conditions at sea level.

The magazines add rollout to the timing equation, which will lower the 0-60 time by a few 10ths of a second.
