On a positive note, the interior is a huge improvement.

I disagree completely and find it a perfect evolution of the current design. More edgy and modern yet still with some sumptous curves.

Like the 458... this one is gonna look SOOOOO good in the flesh.

This design is so damn long in the tooth. They needed to go in a more radical direction. It's sister, the Huracan, accomplished that versus the Gallardo. This does not. I guess for the price, I'd rather have an NSX now.

I think this is great. Audi needs to be main-stream in its designs. Lamborghini has always been the "out there" extreme designs even before it was part of VAG. Now that it is part of VAG, it is the brand's extreme design. The R8 is supposed to be an every day "(wealthy)average person's car."

This car has what it needs. The new style single frame grille that is similar enough to the rest of the Audis to make it recognizable. The headlights have Audi all over them and look like they belong in the brand. It still has the R8 side scoops, but being two pieces, it will make the spyder match the coupe better than the last generation of the R8. The back does look a bit like a TT, but that helps distinguish it from the Lambo and keep the Audi branding.

Now, tell us what the engine options (e-tron please) are going to be and the pricing so my wife and I can go line up for a 2017 model (never buying the first model year again).

Car looks gorgeous. See the video in the original article on the front page. Stunning. What I don't get are the numbers being produced by the etron version. Doesn't a P85D put down a better 0-60 time with two more doors and hell of a lot more utility?

it looks great, Audi designs are timeless, glad they didn't make a monster alien like the new NSX. Other cars come and go, but an R8 will always be recognizable.

The side blade... What's the point of that separation? Rather a continuous blade.

The front looks like crap. Too much going on. Too many angles that don't make sense. Just looks off!

Negative the huracan is definitely not as radical as the gallardo. That is literally the only problem with the huracan it needs to be more radical. Its a lambo, there always poster worthy cars, the huracan they went safe, mayb to sell more, but either way they lost some lamboness releasing it.

As for the R8 ...timeless, and i guarantee in person it will look amazing. The interior is incredible too, I want more pictures/videos but I believe all the interior displays are in the drivers gauge cluster similar to that of the new TT which in person is amazing.

Love the interior and specs. Kind of disappointed that the redesign isnt very dramatic, but then again, its an evolution of the prior platform. Not sold on the sideblades but overall, I like it.

You're right. Guys watch this. The pictures make everything look flat. I now like everything but the side blades. I feel like that was an R8 trademark

Think of the tuning that could be done with the 4.0T in that. Right now, not much tuning can be done to the current engines without adding a turbo or supercharger to them. That could be some phenomenal power

i like it as well. I always thought the R8 represented the understated sports car in the Exotic space of the auto market. I think they perfectly integrated that vision into this new gen model.

In my opinion this is a great revolution to the current design. If you like the more edgy design than buy the new one but if you like a more rounded design than buy the current one. Both design have been executed perfectly. If you have the current R8 and buy the new one you would somewhat have 2 unique designs even though both are R8's.

The R8 e-tron achieves an electric range of approximately 280 miles - a considerable improvement over the technology platform’s 133 miles - with an energy density that has been increased from 84 Wh/kg to 154 Wh/kg and some other modifications to the car. The electrically powered high-performance sports car has the Combined Charging System (CCS) on board, which allows charging with direct and alternating current. Using this system, it is possible to fully charge the battery in significantly less than two hours.
