Question regarding slave cylinder clutch line

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Does anyone know the size of the clutch line that runs from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder? Mine is leaking badly and I am looking to use a screw in fitting coupled to a braided brake line which is 1/8 inch in diameter. Would this supply enough fluid to the slave? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you

The clutch line goes into the bottom hole of the clutch master cylinder here:

and has a similar connection to the clutch slave.

Here's the stock clutch line, the U-turn part of the line connects to the slave.

Instead of trying to thread something into the clutch line, you could get a braided line with the correct connection at the master cylinder and then change out the slave for a metal one with a screw fitting. HERE: http://www.uspmotorsports.com/USP-Au...onversion.html

It's not that hard of a job, but it's not that easy either.. you'll need to remove the driver axle and heat shield, possibly the downpipe to get enough room to change everything. There is also a retaining bracket under the false firewall that makes removing the old line a real PITA. How do you know the clutch slave isn't the piece that is leaking? Maybe the master cylinder is leaking too?

I installed a metal slave cylinder during my stage three build. Everything was fine until last week, when I went to a buddies to load my base tune and my car poured brake fluid. I barely got it back to my house. I crawled under and had my brother push the clutch pedal and it pours out where the line attaches to the slave with that C clip type ring. Just going to have a local shop here make me a custom line to screw into the metal slave. I was just looking to confirm if 1/8th inch hose is adequate for fluid to reach the slave. I'm assuming that's what USP uses.

Here is my metal slave. It leaks where the C clip attaches. I am going to delete that whole piece metal piece and do a screw in similar to USP.

It looks to be the same size as the brake hard lines, so I'd say it's that size. Remark in ETKA for the brake hard line is "4,75x0,7" (Sold in 5m rolls Part# 111611998), which I believe equates to 4.75mmX0.7mm.

    Good luck!

was your new cylinder impossible to install? the rod on mine (same slave as yours) was much bigger than the oem one and we had a hard time getting it to go in the correct place

    Hi!

Let's see if anyone is still listening.

I've got a 1996 Audi A4 Quattro 2.8 and just ordered the USP line:

    http://www.uspmotorsports.com/Drivet...speed-02A.html

It seems to have the right fittings but also to be a -3AN line...

I wonder if that's going to create any problems.....

I have been running mine ever since I had the issue and haven't had a single problem. You should be good to go.
