Parts listed with a VIN split, will show the part number for a VIN below a certain number, and a different part number for the VIN above that certain number. Typically, only the parts of the VIN are shown, like "up to": > 8E-X-1234567 and 8E-X-1234568> "from". where 8E is for B6 and B7 and X is from the VIN 10th digit, 3 = 2003 model year. Does this answer your question?

So if I understand this correctly, my vin is waujc68e23a290719. I'd have to purchase a product that is advertised as Up to VIN 8E-3-040000. Right?

Actually, I should be buying parts advertised as being VIN range 8E-3-040000 > 8E-3-500000. Did I pass on the 2nd try?

Yes you pass, since your serial number 290719 is between 040000 and 500000. The "3" is from the VIN at 23A, indicating a 2003 VIN.

Very cool! Thanks for your help again! I think you replied to a thread I created with white smoke issues at the turbo side when parked after a "hard" drive. Since then, I've not seen any smoke nor do I smell any fumes. Following my nose, I found a foul odor coming from under the intake manifold and also noticed some smoke coming from that area, and yeah, I can smell in the cabin too. Anyways, I suspect broken breather stuff so I'll replace when I do the subframe and control arms soon.
