    hi All,

I've a question, can i replace NON-LED headlights that comes in 2013, 2014 Audi A4 models in "Premium" trim, with the one that comes in "Premium Plus" and onwards LED headlights? IF yes, can someone post a DIY.

Thank you for all replied in advance.

You can buy the housings on ECS Tuning; I believe the ones you'd need are these (if you're going for European ones without the amber reflector:

    http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B8_A4-...hts/ES2649952/

You'd also need two LED control units:
    http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B8_A4-...are/ES2555555/

Bulbs (I believe this is the correct bulb, ECS actually doesn't list it, they'd know the answer if you call):
    http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B8_A4-...lbs/ES2779052/

And two ballasts for the HID bulbs:
    http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B8_A4-...are/ES2503365/

After that you'd just need a wiring adapter. I'd post a link to the one I bought but I'm not sure that the B8 part would work in a B8.5.

It doesn't look like the LED controllers are the same as the B8s, so I don't think the set of parts I ordered for mine from HIDConcept would work in a B8.5. It would be worth double checking their offerings though, because my set of bulbs, ballasts, and LED controllers was only $440 total so I saved a ton.

After all of it is installed you'll need so VAGcom coding to tell the car that it now has HIDs.

Double check all of these URLs for fit and accuracy before you order anything, I'm tired lol.

    Hope this helps!

First off, what year is your car? If you have the 2012 and older (Pre-facelift or B8) then no, you can't. At least not without a new hood, front bumper, and fenders.

If you have the 2013 and newer (Facelift or B8.5), then yes, you can. Probably best person to help you is Alex@Europrice. Send him a PM on here and he can hook you up.

If you are saying you bought a car with standard headlights and want to upgrade to the HID/Xenon, then that is actually very easy and follow what ProjectBlackOut said

Nope, the base model Premiums had halogens, I've gotten them a few times as loaners from the dealer. There was a package for the Premium trim level with the HIDs though.

    B8.5 halogens:

Damn did not know that. I haven't seen a single base line package here (in Canada). They advertise the "base" as the premium line.

Thank you ProjectBlackout. That is what exactly I was thinking. The white color car shown by you is what I'm planning to buy(Premium trim) to save some money, but I want to replace those halogen lights with HID/XENON. I've checked few lights on eBay and found some cheaper prices like this one. Can you pls give me pointers, what should I look for before buying them? Thanks all for help and replies.

The one in the eBay listing is a US market headlight; most people spending the money to do a retrofit go with European market headlights (ecodes) without the amber side market for a cleaner look. Pictures of both are below so you can see the difference. When I was looking at ECS to write my initial response in this thread it looks like there are two different US spec HID options for these cars depending on build date, so you'd want to double check that before purchasing. I'm in the middle of doing this conversion on my B8, but for specifics on coding and wiring I'd have to defer to an expert on B8.5s so that they can say whether or not the wiring adapter and coding changes would be the same.

My suggestion for cutting the cost down somewhat would be calling the guys at HID Concepts and asking if they have components for the B8.5 lights. I was able to save about $800 by getting the bulbs, ballasts, and LED controllers as a kit rather than individually from ECS. Their sets only mention the B8, but they may work for both, or they may have other kits that just fit the B8.5.

you may be able to get away with using aftermarket bulbs and ballasts with an Amp converting cable. Something to look into. Not entirely sure if you casn do that. I know they make amp->D2S, I think our bulbs are different though. You can save prob about $4-500 right there. Housings are pricey but available under 1k used.
