2012 A4 built-in Navigation system upgrade

Hello,

My A4 comes with the map from 2012, and I would like to know if there's a way that I can upgrade it myself. I asked my dealer and they are selling the disk + installation for $120 which I find it to be ridiculous.

I work in the software engineering industry, I know that this stuff shouldn't be too hard for DIY once I have the disk or the software loaded on USB or SD card.

Your request is well timed, I just got some info on updating the NAV /MMI on my 2012 to the 2014-2015 Version today. I left all the info at the office but I will shoot it out to you tomorrow when I'm back at work. Gotta tell you though, sound like you're getting quite a deal as Ive been quoted around $240 plus for the disc plus dealer install. Ive been told that I HAVE to go to the dealer with the disc as only they can do the install..I'm hoping others can chime in on this. Do we have to go to the dealer to carry out the upgrade once we have the disc??

In my experience, there is no disc. There is a standard DVD disc box but all it contains is a scanable license code and all the downloading/installation is done at the dealer directly from Audi. That is what I did 2 years ago (for about the same price) and then got all my money refunded because none of the roads missing since 2011 had been added. FWIW.

I happen to have the same Software and NAV version as you and After doing some further research my my dealer wants $240 for the 2014-2015 disc / code required for the upgrade 'plus' an additional 2 hours labor. I think you're getting quite a deal with what you've been quoted IMO. I'd jump on it in a heartbeat if I got your offer.

Are nav updates not covered under warranty? Seems like they should be.

^^They certainly should be in my opinion. Come in for service, update software. Done. That's the kind of service I would like to see AoA attend to, manage the owner satisfaction end of things.
