    A4 Front Bumper options

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello all, first post after lurking around for a while. I have an 01 A4 with a little over a 100k that I bought back on salvage title after it was involved in a rear-end accident. I debating parting it out or even selling it as a parts car but in the end I have decided to repair it since its in mint condition besides the aforementioned accident damage. I tore everything off yesterday and I have begun the process of finding new parts. Regarding the bumper going brand new OEM is not really an ideal option as I am not looking to spend that sort of money so I have been scouring the web for used front bumper assemblies from local junk yards. I have found a few but was curious if there are other options. With the bumper cover being riveted to the support I was curious how an after market bumper cover (body kit) could be installed since it would need to be secured to the support. Thanks for any and all insight

There aren't many non-OEM options that most people will say look "good".

While the OEM bumper was riveted in place to the crash (support) beam, many aftermarket options will only have a few screws connecting the bumper cover to the beam. Many (probably most) of them will require screws to hold the rear-most parts of the bumper into the fenders.

Best option will likely be to find a decent-condition used one.

Another option as well is the Certifit aftermarket stock-replacement bumper... they're not perfect but are relatively cheap and seem to fit well enough.

Thanks for the help, since I need other parts including hood, lights... I was also thinking on trying to buy a car with mechanical issues that I can scavenge for parts.

If your Craigslist is anything like mine, just look for someone parting out the same model.

that's the plan, the only issue is most of the ones available have the same sort of front end damage. Found a local junkyard that has a hood and bumper so that's a good start

You're in Vista, CA? You need to make a trip up north to Ontario (Pick-A-Part) and Fontana (Ecology - all foreign). When I'm back up there next monday, I'll stop in them to get an inventory of what's available for you. PM me everything you need.

This is a very good guy right here, not many would be offering that kind of time and help to some person they barely know.
As for the car bring her back to life! You'll regret not!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I found it with less than 100k on it. The previous owner put less than a 500miles on it in the year prior, it basically sat. During that time it had over-heating issues so he sent it out to have head work done. I picked up for a little over $3000 so naturally I was quite bummed when my wife got into an accident. I was just getting to the point where I was going to spend a bit of money to start to toy with it. It has been sitting in my garage now for 8 months since I bought it back on salvage title. I figured this weekend was as good a time as any to start the dismantle

I noticed the same thing yesterday, but didn't post anything because I seemed to remember that even though it's unlisted on their website, a call to one of their local facilities will tell you if they have one available.

Aww shucks. I'm all embarrassed now... lol. I've had plenty of people go out of their way to help me on this forum. Just trying to pay it forward. Also, I'm looking for a new black leather shift boot that isn't torn. Two birds with one stone.

I can give you a link to a really nice looking boot if you want! There's one on my build thread that I've had for a few months now, real leather and if you're not a huge fan of that smooth looking leather it's also good.
