Should i just go with a stock replacement?

I don't need a light weight one, i just want one that will last me another 5+ years without having to deal with it.

I got an AGM one from Advance Auto about a month ago, no installation issues that I've noticed so far. 3 year free replacement and was a nice discount for ordering online for in-store pickup as well.

I've heard really good things about Yellow top batteries? If you have any warranty left, go with OEM...that's one less thing they can try to blame on you lol.

I did an Interstate one when mine died, due to flood damage :P It works. It provides power and allows the car to start.

    Yay!

Red Top and Yellow Tops, to me, always seemed hilarious overpriced for what they were. My Evo X came with a Red Top stock, which made me feel special, if nothing else.

if you live close to a dealer and don't mind messing with them (when and if you have a warranty problem on battery) then go OEM.

if you do not like going to dealer then get a battery with a warranty that will be closer to you.

i've always used interstate batteries because they are an OEM supplier to many makes. they also have a nationwide warranty and do business in all 50 states so its easy to replace if there are any issues.

Don't forget, you'll need to use VAG-COM to code in the new battery

What happens if the VAG-COM coding isnt done? My battery is 7 years old and dealer said it is $450 to replace which is way too much, but I dont have a VAG-COM. Can AutoZone or another place do it?

Its not necessary. You want the H8 or H9 AGM from Advance Auto Parts. Its made by Moll who made your OEM battery. If you want lightweight you can go with H6 or H5 AGM.

Thanks Mike! Checked at a Advance Auto Parts near me and it is $189 installed. $260 saved!!! I still need to see if they can code it but if it doesn't matter I am not worried.

Just get something cheap unless you want to save on weight. This has all been researched before from Evo/STI/RS4 people from long time ago. Get some dry battery. It's cheap, and you won't have issues with it for a long time. Since our battery is in the trunk, I'd just get the regular heavy battery for the sake of weight distribution.
