This is actually good news....It means we will get a new version (7.5) that will work 100% natively under Windows 7 instead of having to use an old laptop with Windows XP, bother with VMs, etc.

That's true.
I am currently installing ETKA on windows 7 32bit and it is taking the updates much smoother then VM.

I'm updating this here.
Etka 7.4 Germany runs without any problems on Windows7 32bit.
So far Current update for audi= last two digits 57.

I am fairly new with this program, so with those using it, please chime in.
Are there different ETKA's out there when it comes down to international/Germany?
I have noticed my search showed up with updates with a ''d'' and ones without, you get a boot loop when updating manually.

I have Etka Germany 7.4 with update 1089
It does run, but I can't get the current update. You have to upgrade to get 1090 and up.

update 1089 is the most recent one I had.
I am looking as we speak.
Once I try to push 1090 through, it tells me I have to upgrade to 7.5.

Does our update files have a "d" after the number in the location when you update it?

Can someone with a working copy of ETKA look up the part numbers for the oil pump/balance shaft assembly bolts? I can't seem to find them for sale anywhere and supposedly they are TTY and need replaced after removing them.

When I got the notice on updating to 7.5, I had an option to "only install data/update" or something similiar and it continued as usual up to date.

I'll see what happens when I update mine again. Also, have you ever paid attention to your update file in you C drive to know if the update "audi" folder has a "d" at the end of the number example 1096d?
I don't know if that makes sense.

If I understand you correctly, my update files do not end with a "d"..
I download my updates manually from a hosted website that some guy is running and uploading all updates to, and they are named as per usual, the last one I did is named "etupau10960.exe"

The knock sensor that came off the block looks like #15, but the block was from an '07 GLI. The stock knock sensors from my car (and the new ones I ordered) do not have a harness and have the clip molded into the sensor. The threaded portion of the bolt I removed is ~25mm long with the overall length being ~31 mm. The head of the bolt is stamped 8.8. I'm assuming I need to match the bolt to the block and not the car, but I wasn't aware there were so many choices.

I might be able to look this up for you today. ETKA usually lists the specs for the bolts so you should be able to get a compatible bolt at a hardware store.

I was able to find a match at Home Depot Racing. I don't see why a generic 8.8 bolt of the same size wouldn't work. They only get torqued to 15 ft-lbs.

Trying to figure out where the trunk wiring harness in an Avant feeds into the body. I can follow it through the rubber boot and into the body at the hinge, but from there is is behind a piece of metal and I cannot see where it goes. I need to determine if it runs above the headliner or drops down behind the D-pillar. I want find where it plugs in, in order to unplug it for testing but am loathsome to have to remove the headliner in order to do it.

I get weird errors (in Russian) during the install but then it eventually works but when it’s all installed and updated it give weird errors and doesn’t show half the info and pictures.

I’ve been meaning to try downloading it a third time but it’s sort of a pain so I haven’t. I run it in a Windows XP VM on my Mac so while it’s fine with ETKA I’m assuming the ELSA cracks are being weird.

I find it odd that anyone speaks of hacking VCDS they are immediately blasted for hacking proprietary software and banned to the outer world. But yet hacking ETKA proprietary software seems to be deemed acceptable and even supported by the community in some way.

I don't care either way really but I just thought it was an interesting observation, and think maybe there is something I don't understand.

just my random thought of the day .. now back to figuring out why my one year installed coolant flange is already leaking.
