front brake calliper carrier bolt stuck!!

Hey everyone! My 02 b6 1.8tQ needs new brake pads so I found a good deal online for front rotors and pads. On sunday i started with the right side and everthing was fine but in order to change the rotors i needed to open the 21mm carrier bolts but they were too tight and i didnt wanna risk smashing my face into anything so i took the car to the local shop and paid $20 to have the carrier bolts loosened so i can change the pads and rotors myself. But the guy could only loosen the two bolts on the right side and bottom bolt for the left carrier, the top bolt just didnt budge even after he torched it. What can i do guys? im 1 bolt away from taking care of my brakes. I did call a few shops and asked them to put the parts on for me and prices vary from $100-$180 but i still think the shops will gimme trouble for the bolt although it is clean and rust free. is there anyway to remove the rotor without removing the carrier because the old rotor is very loose on there but it still cant wiggle out. Help me out ppl

Get a mallet and tap the caliper out of the way using the top bolt as a pivot point. It may even loosen it enough for you to get it out completely with a wrench

This. A 4lb. sledge hammer works great to rotate the carrier enough to slip the old one off, and the new one on. Easy peasy.

im only afraid ill break the calliper carrier and at that point be stuck in my garage with a broken carrier and no moving car. I originally thought about moving the carrier as a pivot from the top bolt but the crowbar the i was using seemed to not do the trick

More heat! But yeah, like these two guys said, tap the bracket and it should rotate. This is what most guys do on the rear since those carrier bolts are allen heads and strip super easily.

the front bolts are generally really easy to get off. Having said that, you shouldn't have to remove the carrier to get the rotor off, if I'm not mistaken.... can't recall exactly though...

I know the first time I did my brakes, I removed the carrier. The second time, I dont recall what I did, but I know I generally take the carrier off so that I dont pinch my fingers trying to finangle the caliper off.

finally done guys!! Had to run to canadian tire to a buy a c clamp because the redneck way of pushing the piston down would just not work that well with the huge new pads. After getting the c clamp it was pretty much smooth sailing. Thanks again guys! Saved me $200 bucks lol kdautoservice.
