It is VIN specific, so if your VIN does not show up, it is not part of the recall. It is not clear if all cars in that time frame and model list will be recalled.

"Volkswagen says that it will begin mailing recall notices to owners no later than March 10, 2015. After receiving those notices, owners can take their vehicles to the appropriate Audi or Volkswagen dealer, who will replace the fuel rails and corresponding seals at no charge."

Weird that it does not affect the 2010s. My HPFP was leaking and I had it replaced under warranty.

looks like they changed the rail in those years or a manufacturing problem with those years with how the seals sit on there. Not a big deal to fix just have to take the S/C off. I would ask them to replace the crankcase valve while they are in there since they are right there and maybe see how bad your carbon build up is

yup, shows up for me too... no idea how much this frustrates me to have to leave the car with the dealer. I hope my motor mounts are gone so i can do that at the same time as well. will need to check those.

As of now i dont burn any oil and have not have a thermostat failure. I wonder if i should not have them touch the crankcase for fear that issues may develop after they do something. For the thermostat... im 50/50. Not convinced that the replacement is any better. I hear its the same thing so no point it putting a new one.

I just had this apart six months ago, replaced the thermostat and crankcase vent (about $120 in parts) while I had the S/C off for repainting. Oh well.......

Well wait and see if you get a notice for the recall and if you do you can call AOA and they might reimburse you the money you sent on the parts to fix those. If you kept the receipt for the parts.


My guess is they are inspecting the thermostat and the crankcase valve to be able to replace it for you. I would wait till you get a real notice and see if you can get your hands on the real recall bulletin to see what replacement guidelines are for the t-stat and the valve and you might qualify for it. My guess its going to be part number compare or design markings

Hmmm you said something that got me thinking. Have them do a thermostat while they are in there, should just be parts at that point and might save you money in the long run. If they will do it.

Recalls have nothing to do with the warranty. They will be performed free of charge regardless of vehicle age or mileage.

I called and spoke to my service manager yesterday and he said Audi/VW is supposed to formally publish the service bulletin today (1-28-15). He looked up my VIN and did not see any open recalls but said to call back later in the week and they'll check it again because he wasn't sure if Audi had finished flagging VIN numbers yet. He also mentioned they won't have parts in stock until March.

I ran my VIN a few minutes ago on the recall website (http://web.audiusa.com/recall/) and I have no open recalls.

No recall showing for my 2012. I don't think it makes a difference but my car is a Canadian car but I assume it is looking at a global database or at least a North American database. Anyone know for sure.

Well what happens with a recall like this is they have identified the part in question and the part in question what was wrong with it. And they have traced the part back with the window of how it was manufactured like that and then vin range that those defective parts were put on then they expand that window by a few months to make sure they get them all.

That's what I was just informed as well. No parts are slated to arrive until mid/late March.

My car has Audi care and I am waiting to have oil change, DSG service all done with the recall. Now I must wait.....

It's weird you would think it would be a contiguous range of time that had the issue, but mine doesn't have the recall and is a late later build 05/11, so maybe just the really late 2011's and early 2012's because they changed something for the 12 model year that made it into late 11's?

they currently have limited supply of parts for this recall, so most likey you guys have to wait til march. also, not all VINS that fall under this recall get a new thermostat or crankcase breather valve. depending on the criteria number, you may get just the fuel recall, or fuel recall and thermostat, or all three.
