    A4 coilovers an option?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have used the search button to no avail. But I feel as if this has been covered before. Ive found a little info but nothing what im looking for.
My main question is, are the b5 a4 suspension components set up the same way as the c5 a6?
Ive read that the b5.5 4mo passat suspension is the same as ours. I always assumed that the 4mo passat was the same as the quattro a4.
I am really just looking for more options as far as suspension goes for my c5. Just wondering if this was a viable option. Thanks in advanced.

A4 coils will not work on an A6. PM sent about some STs.

i think the fronts are similar, but do not work. the rears are not the same. I would guess that because this is a 15 year old platform, that someone has already tried this, and since you didn't find it by searching that it didn't fit/work. What are you looking to do? I don't really feel like A4 coilovers would be any cheaper than A6 ones. I went with used sport suspension and RS6 springs all around myself instead of coilovers.

I may have a line on a used set of A6 coils pulled off an allroad. You may have to drill two holes in the front upper strut mount.

i think you would only have to drill to go from A6 to Allroad coils. A6 coils should fit other A6s without modifications. I know the S6 stuff fit onto my A6 without an issue. I think the issue comes with the top hats of the allroad being different.

There are plenty of A6 coils available on the market. Do a google search. Prices are almost identical to A4 coilovers.

Why not just get the right suspension for your car? I'd assume that even if A4 coils fit, the springs aren't rated for the added weight an A6 presents as it's a much bigger car.

I've heard that Passat coils will work, as long as they are from the awd platform. Assuming most A6s are awd as well.

I'm just unsure of the specs for the Passat suspension vs the a6 suspension. personally I have dealt with A6 "comfort" suspension, A6 "sport" struts with RS6 coils, and S6 suspension. I have no experience with the w8 suspension, but I have seen both sedan and wagon so there may be variations in the spring rates and such.

    I'll ask this again.

With Coilover kits available from ST, Koni, Bilstein, H&R, B&G etc... All specifically for the A6... Why are we talking about fitting coilovers made for other models? I mean why not just get the correct part for your car? This entire thread makes absolutely no sense to me.
